Sometimes this game still impresses me.

So we all know the missions aren't all that amazing, nor interesting, and the A.I. is still pretty bad... But I just had a particularly cool event happen regarding both of those. So long story short, I did a mission to kill a guy, happened back into said system where he was killed days after doing said mission, (and completely forgeting I had done the mission) then got one of those "follow my wake!" messages straight outside the station as I was about to drop down. I followed, because I didn't have any missions, and was wondering what the hell it was about since I had no active missions. Turns out, it was the government that, that the guy I killed was working for, and they wanted me to donate to them to cover the loss of their top lacky and they'd forget I wronged them. So I humored the A.I. and donated at the station, and my rep actually came back from unfriendly. That was pretty cool. I'd like to see more of that, persistent A.I./events. We need teir 2 NPCs to come out faster!

Reminds me of the time I was randomly approached to do a data courier mission. I wasn't already on one, and I hadn't done BB missions in a while. Maybe I was just.Friendly or Allied with the.faction, so they seeked me out for a job instead of offering it to me on the BB.

I'm waiting for the day I get a request to follow the NPC's wake, I drop down, and get ganked.

I also think it would be cool if there were also ai like this who trick you into dropping out only to attack you shouting, 'you killed my father!'
It's nice to see there are later consequences to missions, especially the deadly ones. More please FD.

i once answered a distress call trying to be a space hero, there were 3 anacondas in there and to top it off a pirate dropped by for my cargo and as i was PP aligned at the time and hostile in the system a Zachary Hudson pilot thought he would join the party too, needless to say i thought screw this and left the poor pilot in distress, more like a combat zone with everyone vs me, Thruster module malfunctioned while trying to FSD out but the thargoids must have worked some magic as it popped back online while i was waiting for the re-buy to pop up and i hauled out of there with 20% hull left

i've not answered one since but i'd like to think i could help again someday :) maybe the pilot got away while they concentrated on me

i am quite impressed with some Elite NPC's carrying Rails and Plasmas recently too, particularly on smaller ships in wings which you think "haha 3 eagles pffft whatever", then they open their rails on you :O and you have to sit up and take it seriously

I once found a capital ship in a distress call. It was pretty cool, but I couldn't hang for very long by the time the wave of Annies showed up. Also, those turreted rails of NPCs are just... I don't even have words for that.
