Somewhat undecided in the middle of my second great exploration in the void..

So today, me and my trusty 35ly-ranged Conda made it to Sagittarius A* once again. Second visit so far.

After a little bit of exploration around, I prepared myself to go to the G2 Dust Cloud, then to Colonia. But then I've been struck with a question in my mind, and I'm still undecided about it.

So my question is. From the Dust Cloud, should I continue onwards to Beagle Point ? Or rather fall back to Colonia, adding an extra 13kly to my trip and save the tens of millions of credits worth of exploration data I've got aboard ?

I wanna say going to BP has always been something I wanted to do, but at the same time I can feel how risky it could be.

Personally I would visit Colonia - every time I stop by there there seems to be something new, so I like to have a look around, and I'm a cautious pilot when it comes to carrying large amounts of data - but this is a question that only you can really answer!

I guess, one good question you could ask yourself to help you decide is: if you do this for money or for pure fun of exploration?

e.g. myself: just started another challenging journey without a single scanner on board.. the goal is different, but imagine: I am not getting a single credit out of it ;)
you will also find a lot of commanders taking pride in living out of exploration.. nothing wrong with any of that.. just you need to know, what your own special would be.

Whichever way you choose, I wish you safe travels and a lots of fun with it

I'd head out to Beagle Point personally. You'll want to stock up on jumponium and always remember that the Fuel Rats will always be more than happy to help you :)

I too would head out for BP then take in Colonia on the return journey....

The main thing is, do what you enjoy...

See, I'm more paranoid about being interdicted by another cmdr as soon as I get near human space and getting blown up. It's happened a few times. Now I don't worry about the dangers of the void, but wonder if I'll make it to the next station undetected.

I think this is part of the reason that the asteroid bases exist in several nebulae now. They're isolated enough that they're unlikely to be camped by griefers, and you can always sell your scan data at one of those before re-entering the bubble (or Colonia).

How's your ship holding up? If you've got some damage or maybe want to change some modules, you could take care of that in Colonia while cashing in your current data. Taking into account the lack of high rated modules available in the area of course.

If your ship is in good shape, I say press on CMDR!

Just do what you feel like. You are in good position to make a hard push to Beagle if you want, if you're not feeling it go to Colonia and fart around there for a while and you will still be in a good position to make a push to Beagle. If that's not what you want to do then don't do it. I can't know what your state of mind is and neither can anyone else. If I was still feeling fresh I would go straight for Beagle and then come back through Colonia. If I was feeling sick of it but I still wanted to go to Beagle I would make a run to Colonia, hang out there for a week or so, and then when it felt right I would set out for Beagle.

Go into solo when you get within 500 LY of human space.

I've played the game for 3 years and never run into any griefers. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Lucky indeed! And I don't enjoy going into solo, what's the point of playing if there isn't some level of danger ya know?
Besides, most encounters I've had were alright. Once a cmdr simply wanted to test his interdictor on a human player. It rattled me fursure but I wouldn't trade that experience to feel more secure. [smile]

Back and alive with some updates.
I decided to go to Colonia for a safety break at Jaques and also for some repairs.

Cashed in 110 million credits worth of exploration data, which felt REALLY good. God bless the buffed payouts. Also made it to Pioneer rank, 44% of the way to the almighty Elite rank. That's quite nice considering I was Ranger rank, 25% away from Pioneer, along with 45.4 million credits before departing from the bubble.

Next step will be the big push to Beagle Point, and then I'll be heading back to Colonia for another break before the last push to go home and (hopefully) be in time for dinner.

Jokes aside, thanks for all the replies guys. Fly safe o7
