Soo.. i got this Guardian Powerplant....

Instance resetting still means logging to menu and back in again.

I just can't..... how.... what?

Menu logging is now intended game mechanics at a fundamental, story-driven level? Not just for the tedium of the material grind?

That's insane.

It has to be this way. If it's possible to do then people will do it. Which means everything has to be built around the limits of what it is possible for people to do. I would prefer if they made instance resetting impossible to do. But that's probably not possible.

I don't think it needs to be better than an OC powerplant to be useful, and I really do like the fact that we can buy engineered modules without using mats more than once now. That being said, I would like it if the guardian modules had something unique to them, that made them something other than just engineered modules that you can buy. Like maybe the guardian powerplant would never cause your ship to explode if it gets shot and can provide 60% power output when at 0% or malfunctioning because it's more stable. Or something like that, something to make it actually feel like it's new tech instead of just better tech.

Wouldn't it be great if a combat ship was made from the ground up based on the guardian tech ? I'd put my pre-order in for one right now.

Message to the DEV team : Remember it was my idea :)

Quick question I started the gaurdian site yesterday and do I really need to log in and out like 22 plus times to activate the sphere thing in order to get the blueprints to unlock these or am I doin it wrong? First time was cool and fun after 5 times I quit.

You're doing it wrong, you are supposed to fly around and explore all the guardian ruins, gathering blueprints as you go, but instancing being instancing and people being people the logging to reset the instance is the way some people choose to do it, not because it's the correct way to do it but because it is possible! I personally would prefer some system that guided you to various ruins to get the required mats, but I was just reading another thread today and a person complaining about having to go to the guardian ruins at all to get blueprints for weapons because he wasn't an explorer.

No matter what system FDEV introduced there would be some complaints, so we just need to live with it I guess.

There are two ways to do it, which way you choose is up to you and really neither is the wrong way, they are just different.

Cool see I didn't no this I was informed of 3 gaurdian sites. I'd rather visit them all and at the end of the journey have all my blueprints. So is there a link to these site's ?

I find them useful for ships with power shortfalls when overloaded weigh stuff, also pretty good to fit one smaller class in to ships with excess power eg python or asp exploration fits and get an extra 2ly out of them

I believe they’re supoosed to be engineerable in the future. When FDev put a stop to engineering the PP, they said ‘it’s a new technology so it shouldn’t be engineerable yet’, I think *yet* is the operative.

seriously hope they will get set bonuses.
something like combining the powerplant with the plasma charger will make it have the "plasma slug" effect applied.

then you have the choice between a higher heat efficiency modded powerplant, or semi-infinite ammo.

something like that...

I like mine. Maker knows my Cobra needs it for the Guardian guns!

Until those modules can be enginnered, they will be a huge loss of time.

BUT the guardian history behind the grind worth it, the modules don't.

PS: im not talking ONLY about the guardian, all the tech broker stuff sucks actually.

Those meta-alloy HRP, i'ts ridiculus!

how can you say that? i have unlocked a tech broker item, just to find out that no market is seeded with it (not even at jameson memorial)

Corrosion Resistent Cargo Rack = Good stuff (BEcause cargo racks can't be enguinnered), Actually improves the corrosion resistent capability from 2 to 16 using the size 4 CRCR) (Can be purchased in Jameson)
Guardian weapons = Good only agains thargs, Gauss cannon are a THERMAL weapon that requires ammo (?) Fall-off for gauss and plasma charger start in 1000Metters. (Can be purchased in Jameson) - Will be usefull if someday we can enginner it,
Shock Cannon = A cannon that fire fast and have a small capacity of ammo, can't be enginnered (Like all the tech broker stuff) - Purchase this and stay farming resouces to make ammo every 3 minutes. (Can be purchased in Jameson) - Will be usefull if someday we can enginner it,
Meta alloy HRP = Standart HRP with less hull reinforcement value and a ridiculus ammount of caustic resistence (3%) (Can be purchased in Jameson) - Will be usefull if someday we can enginner it,
Guardian power plant = More weight and more heat than a standart G5 powerplant (Can be purchased in Jameson) - Will be usefull if someday we can enginner it,
Flexete = Flak weapons that hit modules even if the target have shields, tank god the damage is very low (Can be purchased in Jameson) - Will be usefull if someday we can enginner it,
Enzime misseles = I really don't know i dn't have unlocked it.

I found the Shock Cannon fun, and useful not as a Bounty farming weapon but great for Mission ships so will only deal with the Mission NPCs sent to stop you
The Penetration of the Plasma Charger is 80 and 140 on the Gauss so they dont suffer any Damage reduction from anything, and I am shore the fall off on the Gauss was 2500m
The Flechette might be a good weapon for disabling ships drives to pirate

I thought that too first, but then... it's alien archeology. Digging one layer of sand after the other... going to sleep (err menu) and repeat all over. Hey, it's a life simualtion again. :O

But I really learnt to enjoy the SRV turret. I wish mulitcrew gunnery was a bit like that.

The only mistake I can put at FDevs door, re the Guardian Tech (or any Tech Broker stuff) is you should be able to browse the details of what you will unlock before you go through the grind of unlocking it. As it stands it could be unnecessarily cruel.

On the plus side, I can see loads of corner cases where, for example, the Guardian Power Plant is best choice - but not all. And that is a GOOD thing. I dislike this idea that there is one perfect ship for all tasks, with one perfect build. Instead we have horses for different courses.

If you want to play hull-tank sans-shields, or combat Thargoids, or want an undersize powerplant, or want to avoid engineering up a new powerplant - this is probably a good pick.

Go to the galaxy map. Set the civilization filter to Guardian. This will show all systems were guardian ruins or structures have been found
