I might be missing something. When I purchase trade data all it seems to give me is if it is exported to the place or from it. No numbers or statistics. I can figure that out without it. I have bought a few but completely useless to a trader. Is there another location I need to see the sell and buy numbers for that location? This really is crazy how bad the trading tools are in here. Even in todays 2014 society I can look up what stock prices are on the other side of the world. So FD please fix this or someone tell me if there is a spot to see this information. Thanks.

Buying the trade data (which you get free for visiting a station) shows the trade route lines on the galaxy map.
You don't get to see quantities / prices or anything.. the only way to get these is visit the stations and either make a note, take a screenshot or use a third party tool.
For what its worth, I would not want to see live prices, that would make it a little too easy IMO, but would love to be able to take a snapshot of a market in-game as it was when I visited and be able to refer to it again later, instead of resorting to pen/paper or as I do atm, screenshots.

Yeah doesn't seem to show much. Also I think the trade data on the system view isn't right. I have a couple of rank missions that request combat stabilizers and personal weapons. Checking the trade filter on the galaxy map reveals that they aren't traded anywhere, but if I go into system view I can see some stations that show them as exports. But if I go to that station, neither good is listed in commodities. Not out of stock, just not listed at all. So the trade data must not match up correctly. That or I'm just not sure how it works.
