sooo PO'd and about to self destruct..

my ASP has a jump range of 32-35ly. is there a better/longer jump range I can equip? I'm way out in the gludgoe sector and there's a star, a very special type of star that i cant reach. there are stars all around it but i can't plot a course.. I flew a long way and I feel like self destructing just to get home. any thoughts, tricks or upgrades anyone can point out? thanks.

I'd first try to find another route, backtracking if necessary.

This does make me think though that self-destructing should violate the terms of insurance.

where i am, you can easily try to trace backwards from the three star that look close enough to jump from..but i've been at this for 2 days and i'm starting to smell failure. is there a longer jump range than my current config?

The only thing to do is to make sure your fuel load is at the optimal level to maximize your jump range while your at any one of the closest stars and see if a route becomes available.

By optimal level I mean obviously not too much, but you can have too little as well that can limit your maximum range. As your jumping around and tinkering with the level you can look at the right side panel to see your current jump range and since we're lacking any graduated markings on the fuel gauge you can use the letters below "MASS LOCKED" as a rough guide as to how much fuel is needed for a maximum jump.

tried that lol. flew to and fro several times to "dump" fuel. I think i need a conda..stripped

The Condie is the answer. We still need a module for that occasional long jump, say 100% increase. Limited use to stop it being used all the time.

Whats so special about this one? All the stars are pretty much the same looking and the game cant render any "fun" stellar effects?

I've been messing around with an Anaconda in Beta. Apart from jump range, it is a HORRIBLE ship to explore in. The view sucks, it turns like an aircraft carrier, and seems to take heat damage super quickly while scooping - though this may be a 1.3 thing, I need to spec out an Asp like my current one and see how it goes for comparison.

After the disappointment of realising neither of the new ships in 1.3 fulfil my dreams of higher jump range, I am now kitting out my 'Conda for exploration. Agree, it is not as 'nimble' as the Asp but as I plan to circumnavigate the galaxy I really need the jump range. The living quarters are also far more spacious than the Asp, and that has swung it for me.

Make sure you get as close as possible to the star to determine just how far you need to be able to jump in order to reach it.
