Ships Soooooo the type 9 is dead

I can’t be the only one to have noticed this? There’s no reason what’s so ever to buy one now. The only thing the type 9 was good at before was trading and now the type 10 can carry just as much but does every thing else better for about 30ish mill more, why would you ever buy the type 9, even if you only had the money to buy the type 9 the best option would be to just wait till you had enough for the 10 right?

Am I missing something or is the type 9 really going to need a buff or something?

Pretty much. If you trade while running shields then the T9 will carry 32T more cargo than the T10, but with how much of a hull tank the T10 is I'm not sure you even need shields.

If you run shieldless then the T10 is flat out superior to the T9.

I'd rather have the Type 9 than the Type 10. A lot cheaper to equip and the Type 10 is overrated hype only good for multicrew with turrets. At least everyone knew the Type 9 was and is a flying pig. The Type 10 is no combat ship.

Type 10 cargo capacity ends up more similar to the Conda than the type 9, due to having a C6 minimum shield compared to the minimum C5 shield of the type 9.

So, type 9 still carries more, and is cheaper.

Should really be a discussion of the Conda vs the type 10.

Why would you ever trade with shields? Just run Hull tank makes way more sense IMO and the t10 comes with 2 class 5 military slots, as far as I can tell, I unless you are REALLU tight on funds there’s no need for the t9 anymore, kind of a shame to have a ship in the game that (out side of very specific reasons) has no purpose, really hope it gets more room for cargo soon.

And to address the “cheaper to build” claim, other than the cost of the ship it’s self I really don’t think it is, you could always put type9 parts on to a 10 and it would basically function as a more tanky t9 :/

Don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to crap on the t9, I’d just like to know if the devs have any future plans for the 9 really?

Maybe reduce the initial weight of the T-9 and make it a little cheaper, so it is a step towards the T-10, but also a lighter-weight alternative.

In fact, I'm wondering if my Beluga has a place in my fleet, now I have the T-10.

Don't forget, it's not just about the purchase price.
The bigger modules on the T10 mean that it can end-up costing MUCH more than a T9 to outfit.

Still trying to wrap my head around the differences TBH.

For example, after buying my T10 I stripped it right down and then fitted a G5 FSD and it'd make 37Ly jumps.
Obviously that's with a 7A FSD though - which is Cr30m more expensive than the T9's 6A FSD.

If you're considering a T10 over a T9 for the extra jump-range, that's an extra Cr60m you need to find. Cr30m more for the ship and Cr30m more for the FSD.
Which, just to add to the confusion, immediately puts you in a position where you might be wondering why you didn't just buy an Anaconda instead.

Bottom line is that if you're on the way up, and you're looking to start trading, running cargo missions or doing CGs in a big way, the T9 is probably still the cheapest way to do that.
If, OTOH, credits aren't an issue, the T10 is a better choice than the T9.
But, then again, You can probably also get a very nice Annie for the same credits as a similarly-specced T10 as well.

Decisions, decisions!

T-9 doesn't need a buff, but the economy could use an overhaul so prices differences are actually relevant.

So if my ship gets attacked, I'm much more likely to make it out in one piece.

Couldn't of put it better myself....
