So there I was, jumping into the system with my mission destination...check the system map to see where to go, and what do I see? A giant, black ring.

So I ask myself, "What kind of black magic is this?! There are no giant invisible rings here!"

(I was thoroughly amused by this, anyone else ever seen it? What causes this?)

A graphical bug introduced in 1.5/2.0. It's due to be outroduced in 1.6/2.1

Black rings do exist though if the parent star is a black hole or neutron star.

I've seen those before on the couple short voyages I've taken. Amazing sights! Tons of breathtaking things to see, all over the place.

Hang on. I've just finished reading a thread where it was explained ED has nothing to do and nothing to see and we should all just move on and now you are saying it is really good. Now I'm really confused

Its not a bug or glitch. It is the infamous galactic ring of destiny. You have to supercruise to the point in the exact middle of the ring to pick up your reward.

I've had this bug too, in the Parjanya system after I closed the nav-map. I thought I was about to be eaten by some terrifying space anomaly <.< >.>
