Sorry but WOW

After much thought and back and forth I Just bought an ASP explorer for well Exploration and Mining. I fully kitted it out for all types of mining but essentiallly I only do deep core. Previously my only ship experience was my trusty Cobra MKIII.

So the wow, what a cockpit it’s like being in a conservatory such amazing visibility - great for watching those Asteroids crack open. But in VR there is also a hole in the floor with a ladder going down... I cracked my head against the wall looking ! (No safety zone set up in my oculus)

Paid for the ship, the A mods and made 10mill in the very first run :)

Very impressed.

Have you tried the mamba in VR? Sounds like it would be underwhelming, but the *size* of the ... protrusions at the front, in 3D, it's quite something. The ship feels like a boat.

Hehe thanks for the ideas I’ve heard one of the Ts - think T10 - has gangways disappearing off in the distance. If mining works out should be able to try them all :)

It helps to move your head slightly and then reset the HMD view. Do it several time to "teleport" through the ship without leaving the seat or cracking the head ;) - The ships already have much more depths than one expects.

And yes... the Asp is an awesome ship. I flew it for more than 1.5 years exclusively. Now with the discovery scanner being build in, it is even more awesome.

Have fun CMDR!

I've had a rift for sometime and it was always WOW, but I have just upgraded to a Samsung Odyssey+ and it is a whole order of magnitude more WOW. If it wasn't such a faf to get it setup and to fit my face it would be near perfect. I can now actually read the text in the panels rather than either guess or lean closer.. So Frontier, how about supporting native WMR in the game. No more overlays, multiple layers of drivers, things to crash, conflicts, cpu and gpu overheads. Go on, you know it makes sense.

I’d become a little bit bored of my AspX despite the great view it has regardless of screen/headtracking. Then my Odyssey arrived and my first ever VR experience. Wow indeed. It’s vast and my love for it is back. Funnily enough I also felt exactly the same when I tried a Sidey for the first time in VR. Smaller but just as much Wow.

i'm currently having that WOW moment in VR using the SLF's and zipping through canyons or between the struts and girders of a station - those things are crazy manoeuvrable

For some reason I never thought of the slf for VR. Another thing to look forward to!

Yes! Banged my head against the wall looking down the aspic hatch on day one VR much to the vast amusement of my wife and daughter! It’s just astoundingly we’ll done even though my laptop will only allow low graphics on my set up it’s just breathtaking!

Not a VR person but what happens in camera suite mode when you select a camera at the back of the cockpit or other views around the cockpit. Can you still tilt and move your head with it or is it locked to camera only?

This is why I use the AspX exclusively for mining. This ship is perfectly designed for that task, especially in VR. I just love it.

You can look and move around freely. The camera view only defines the starting point.

The Krait is a great fighter in VR. You can see the big guns at your shoulders firing at the baddies

Haven't had the time in the past few months to play elite and buy all these new ships, but dang your right.
Last night, I purchased the phantom version for exploration, got all the kit purchased, and ready to install.

Engineering will commence in the next few days.
The AI crew member is going to take her RNR, while I poodle off into the black.
For her 1st major voyage.[yesnod]
