Sorry Function!

I just accidentially hit a freighter instead of a pirate.
I'm playing as law-abiding bountyhunter.

I immediately had a bounty on my head just after 3 little hits and the freighter pathetically tried to kill me.

After I got away from the freighter a large fighter ship attacked me just before the station where I wanted to get rid of the bounty.

I'd like to suggest to add a function to say sorry to another ship so it stops to attack you if you didn't really do much to them.
Also it would be great if there was a fine system.
It could work like this:
If you hit a friendly ship, you will have to pay a fine instead of a bounty.
As long as it is just a fine you still have to pay that one first before you can cash bounties, but nobody will attack you.
As soon as you deal heavy damage to another ship or destroy it, the fine turns into a bounty on you and you will be considered a pirate and your victims won't accept appology attempts.

There is a system that makes the NPC ships ignore your friendly fire if: a) the ship NPC ship you hit was not targetted by you AND b) the damage was relatively small. If both conditions are met then you don't get a bounty on your head and your attack is ignored and not reported to the authorities.

Ergo: you've either had the freighter targetted OR you've unloaded lots of pew pew at it :)

Suggestion: tame your trigger finger.

I targeted and fired about at the same time because I wasn't expecting a hauler to hug my viper in the middle of a battle.

Edit:
Still wouldn't that make a little more sense?
Death penalty for being in space and shooting at someone, but 1000Credits fine at the dock doesn't sound right...
What would happen if you removed the premise to have targeted the other ship, would people be able to abuse that?
Because if not, a loose triggerfinger should be punished by a fine, not by death. (and then a fine again at the dock)

yeah, the system right now is quite flawed imo. especially with stronger weapons there is no such thing as "relative small damage". if a dumb police eagle flies into my two size 2 beam lasers, he becomes red. and then every damn police fool tries to kill me for 200cr...

The only answer I have for this is: watch your trigger finger. Being a skilled dogfighter doesn't only mean to be good with your aim and manoeuvrability, but also to know when to let off that hot red fire button ;)

it's frickin dark in space and if i don't see that ship because he doesn't show me his bright bum but just drifts between me and my target, where should i know that there's another ship until it's illuminated by my lasers? what would help of course, would be headlights that actually light stuff up in front of me, not just only the first 10m :p

umm, you do have sensors installed. When I'm in battle, I spend half the time tracking my target in the scanner display, and maintaining situational awareness.
