Sothis/Ceos

It's been some time now since those grinding days, but it still should work. Just check it's in "Boom" state before heading out there.

Has NOT been a good place since the Feds lost 3 faction groups there.
Saranyu is where I ended up grinding out Fed faction, went pretty fast.

I think I've been there all of once, ran maybe 3 or 4 missions, and left. I found a much better place, nowhere near as far away, on the fringe, and went from Post Commander to Rear Admiral in a weekend.

I was there last week, at least I got that grind out of the way.

Barnard's Star Boston Base. 4 of the factions are Fed and good missions once you are allied. Heart of the Federation and no shortest of missions.

I finally made it out to sothis yesterday. Just doing data missions I moved up three ranks. Casual playing off and on. Taking passenger missions for 1.3 mil to sirus atmosphere

Still a good place to rep grind? ... i dont care about creds.

Got Rear Admiral two weeks ago after running Fed missions between the three stations on and off over the last couple of months (I was four ranks away when I started.)

Tried different things, but settled on using my Python to run Fed data, donation (up to 500K,) and cargo missions.

The cargo missions from Sothis Mining to Ceos typically run $5-$8 mill - I'm allied but two steps away from Elite.

Took about 22 minutes per run, ~7-9% rep each run. Easy to do while on the treadmill or watching TV.

Good luck and fly safe!

Honestly I just kinda flew out there just to see. In my python I can take 3 passenger mission for 1-1.5 mil each. So working on my fed grind it's just some extra credits while I'm grinding. I'm debating getting my conda out here. Bummer I can't get my sirus permit while I'm out here lol.

Sorry to bump this but as a "noob" who picked up on this area as a location to improve Federal rep, thought I'd post from my experience.

First off, if you're travelling to Ceos/Sothis it's a long way from anywhere else involving travel through multiple anarchic systems with sweet nothing. A fuel scoop is essential especially if you are in a lower spec craft, otherwise at best you will be making your first acquaintance with the Fuel Rats, at worst you will be contemplating self destruct and (possibly) your first rebuy :) .

Once in system from what I can see there is one station in Ceos and two in Sothis. They all seem to offer multiple BBS missions so these really stack up. Even at my lower level I'm making around 350k per round trip and I exchanged my passenger cabin for a freight unit as many of the missions require hauling merchandise or offer resources as a reward/bonus.

The downside is that having done three or four round trips while my cash is rising the Federal rep so far isn't. Need to work on that. Also spending too much time trundling between the same two systems is going to get tedious after a while even with the eye on the prize, so to speak. Also the shipyards at the two main stations don't seem overly well stocked with better class modules.

At each station, there is only one faction offering Federation missions - normally the one at the top of the list. You go to Ceos, take the missions from that faction, do the mission logging until you have 20 missions, go to Sothis Newholm and hand in the relevant misions. Load up with those offered by the Federation faction, mission log until you're full, go to Sothis Mining and do the same, then back to Ceos with 20 more Federation missions and repeat. That completes 40 Federation missions per circuit.

That's if Federation ranking is your priority. You have to ignore all the other missions.

For Federation ranking, Exphiay isn't too bad. There are only two Federation factions, but there are only four local inhabited systems (I think). Currently my route is giving me more data delivery missions than I am able to take. The only downside to this area is that only a couple of stations offer cargo delivery missions. There are other missions (skimmer, scans, etc.) that can be used to make a bit of money while ranking up - and passenger missions pay quite well too (though most of them are criminals).
