Sound and music

Just wondering if anyone else plays with the sound switched off, for whatever reason.

I like the sound and music but after a while it's very dull.

I've found a lot of variation in the engine sounds, especially when I was running the hauler I would occasionally be surprised by the engine note.. I've never suffered the sense of repetitive 'canned' sounds in Elite which plague other games. In general I think the sound person/s are doing great there.

I haven't thought to turn the music down/off either.. it's nice to have a bit pipe through as you enter a station.

I think you put yourself at a material tactical disadvantage by flying with the sound off. I'm constantly surprised and impressed by how much it conveys: such as the crackling of a hostile Viper engine as it slows down its approach, and I'd originally thought it was a lot further away...
