Sound bank file format

So, after reading a little of the heated discussion around male/female voices (I personally wouldn't mind a geordie voice pack, or possibly a Wenglish version with a lovely soft valley's girl accent), I thought I'd take a look at the sound files.

Opening a random .aux file presents me with a header which looks remarkably like a RIFF file https://ccrma.stanford.edu/courses/422/projects/WaveFormat/

I do seem to be able to open them with this, although as yet I've not found an easy way to mess about with the audio: http://www.menasoft.com/blog/?p=34

So, in theory it should be possible for us to create our own :D

yea its possible and rather easy.
my personal weapon of choice is adobe audition, but any professional audio editor should be able to handle the format.
unfortunately the EULA does not allow us to do this kind of modding :(

i really wish they could adjust it a little, only to allow us to do some moderate modding like this.

I suspect that would only be applied to a commercial organisation making profit from the sound-packs, if it's an 'open source' type effort then I doubt they would be that bothered.

Would be interesting to hear from FD about this and the localisation of the text strings.
