Sound of Ammonia: how to know if that gas giant bears life from system map

Something i did not understood at first glance is that the sound stayed even after minutes... it holds as long as you have the planet selected, right ?
Right.

The best to separate those, is to select nothing in the system map, unzoom to the maximum and listen the "ambient" sound.
Then select an object, zoom to maximum and listen its sound.

That's good advice since the ambient beeps and clicks of the system map can confuse the sounds.

i have 2 differents high metal planet with almost the same composition (67% rock / 33% metal).
But one has no atmosphere at all, its sound is like a drill, almost continuous and clear.
The one with atmosphere has same kind of background sound, but clearly covered by the sound of some wind, and something ... resonating... really more complex.

There is some complexity between the variety of Gas Giants, high metals, metal rich, with and without atmosphere and (in my opinion) for terraforming candidates, but I think were still trying to discern a lot of that. Also, we have to ask at some point when the information is no longer useful and just neat to know. Right now were focusing on what will save us time in helping to identify specifically valuable planets versus their look-alikes.

Thing is, I'd have to turn off Megadeth to listen to the planets properly...

Hi everyone, i recently discovered something that is saving me a lot of time, and would like to share. I'm sorry if it's already known.

From system map, selecting an object it makes a specific sound.
Water Based Life Gas Giants make a water stream noise, but i guess even rocks know this at this point.

183 hours of play time, mostly exploring.....first I heard of this. How is that at all intuitive? Put a cursor on a planet on a system map...and it makes a noise? lol ED just got better....

Brilliant... but now I will have to stop listening to music and watching TV while I explore. :)

you really only have to pay attention when there's something you cant identify easily or want more clarification on before flying out to scan it. Only takes a minute. This is for saving you those long 50k+ trips to find out its just a rock and not the gem you thought it was.
