Sounds from PS4 Controller speaker?

I'm sure I was not hallucinating and when hearing communications from space stations, etc. the sound would come out of my PS4 controller speaker. It didn't happen all the time but I thought it was a nice touch. I no longer have any sounds coming out of my controller speaker. It isn't faulty as far as I am aware.

Was I hallucinating? Do sounds come out of the PS4 Controller speaker and if you can, can you enable/disable?

Aha! You are the one that ate all the spacecake!!!! :D

Never heard any sounds from the DS except for the rattle noise of the FFB. I remember thinking it was weird they didn't add sounds to the DS speaker

Spacecake may be involved here, but I have to say that the sound output from ED is some of the best I've heard in terms of dynamic range and directional placement - particularly in a 5.1 setup. For late night sessions, I run a pair of Sennheiser HD25 cans and the clarity is exceptional.

Sound isn't perfect though - I still suffer from the odd stutter and loss of audio, but overall I am mightily impressed.

I was also convinced at one point that the DS4 speaker had audio, but that was due to good old Space Madness.

True, the sound is amazing! But all the ships computer sounds would be nice on the DS4.

I use the night time audio setting for at night.

Night time audio setting is good for day to day use, it's supposed to help makle things clear at low volumes, but the clarity is preserved to more normal ones, making it a good alternative to the standard setting (IMO)

I use Full Range on a 5.1 setup and the only issue I've experienced is my ship's computer voice is sometimes loud and sometimes not.

Overall I agree the audio is phenomenal.

yeah, now you mention it, I'm sure it used to do this, then disappeared, maybe after a early hot fix

I just started using 5.1 now I figured out how, its thargoiding epic

It did do this, It was basically the radio chatter, like the spacestation, it sounded ok, like a radio coming from inside your cockpit,

In 5.1 the radio chatter sounds good, and you can here other little interefernce convos going on and it sounds like its coming from somewhere different to the ships computer, stuff you miss playing thru your TV, and then theres the thunder of your Asp. Its like world class audio

I think they switched it off soon after launch, I cant remember hearing it since the start, unless I switched something off by mistake

I'll have a bit play and see if I can switch it back on again

Good. I wasn't hallucinating!

The sounds, and soundtrack are really great on 5.1. The problem I have with sound coming out of the DS4 is that it tends to play through microphones, and is very distracting to hear it from other players, so I would turn it off, if it were an option. (This has been my experience in another game with the option.) But that's because I'm usually on mic with friends while I play.

If I ever want my wife to come down to the basement to tell me, "It's time to put your headphones on!" I just crank up the 5.1 and honk the Advanced Discovery. It SHAKES the house, LoL! So satisfying!
