Southamerican Animals

I often hear about that we need more southamerican animals, while i myself mostly was at peace with the number ingame, until i actually started building my southamerica area and really scrape the bottom of the barrel to fill it.
The thing is that other with other regions, i dont have any animals come instantly to mind that i would want or need in the game, besides the capybara and maybe the maned wolf, so i thought about why not make a thread to collect some idears for nice and reasonable south american animals to flesh out the raster.

I think the capybara is a no brainer, but some less obvious choices i would really like to see are maras.
Another big rodent that lives in the southern grasslands, they have a similar niche to rabbits, but larger and are a cornerstone species of their ecosystem.
They also are quite common in zoos, often held in mixed southamerican habitats.

In the same vein i would nominate the greater rhea. They arnt as important to me, as they look like grey emus, but they would bring something unique for southamerica, eventhough its more flashy cousins are allready in the game or heavily requested. Its another creature from the pampa (and some parts of northern germany lol) and would complete with the mara and the maned wolf the most important/iconic pampa animals.

Another more obvious pick would be the coati, a small aboreal predator from the tropical north of south and zentralamerica.
Quite common in zoos, they are included in most southamerican sections or as standalone exhibits (in my old crappy childhood zoo they are inhabiting the old, even more crappy bear enclosure) and do well in all kinds of exhibit, aswell as in indoor exhibits.

But thats from my side for now, what southamerican animals would you want/expect to come to the game?

In the case of habitat animals, I can think of quite a few:

Caimans - we have the dwarf caiman, but if support lasts a few more years I can see us getting a 2nd, much larger caiman, like the yacaré

Cui - i believe these are called cavies. They're basically wild guinea pigs. Given that we got the small meerkat and capuchin, I can see the devs adding these

Howler monkeys - I've seen them in most zoos, and it's be a shame not to get a 2nd new world monkey

Spider monkeys - another new world monkey

Guanaco/vicuña - the wild versions of the llama and the alpaca

Puma - assuming we, for whatever reason, don't get this guy in a NA pack, he's also from SA

Tegu - any species will do, but we'd likely get the Argentine black and white tegu

Currassow - these are ground birds, so we can get these and use them in a pretend aviary by using the new mesh pieces

Tamarins/marmosets - small monkeys that I've seen in zoos

Agouti - a rodent, I believe. I don't know much about them

In the case of small exhibits:

Yarará - a dangerous snake

Eyelash viper - the bright coloration pops

Emerald tree boa - same as above

Mata mata - a large turtle

Green anaconda - this is assuming we get some vivarium update to the game and we get larger/smaller sizes

That's all I can think of

I would be happy if we just got the capybara and a second monkey species.

There are other animals like the armadillo, ocelot, Andean bear and coati that would be nice additions, but I can live without them and aren't a priority for me at all.

However, if we get birds, South America will have a lot of cool animals to join the roster.

Capybara, as mentioned as a no-brainer, is near certainty at some point given the community support for it. I do worry that may be the only remaining SA animal we get, but I certainly hope not. Still, if I had to pick one that would be it. There's others though that I think would have a medium chance of appearing, ranked roughly by likelihood

Maned Wolf
Ocelot
Andean (spectacled) Bear
Patagonian Mara
Coatimundi
Collard Peccary
Howler Monkey
Spider-Monkey
Rhea

I'd also like to introduce people to the Tayra. There's very little support for them but I think that's due to the relative awareness of them. I didn't know about them with my top 30 wishlist but found out about them in time for and included them in my top 20 list.

There's also the Sloth - still can't figure out if this should be habitat or exhibit which actually decreases its likely hood when it should be relatively high (either right before or right after Maned Wolf)

Chances are that beyond the capybara we may see another 2-3 species total, and that may be a high estimate. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just the Capybara and Maned Wolf we get eventually.

Unless we talk about birds of course. As South America has a plethora of birds that would range from critical inclusions to mildly interesting.

I just found out about the pampas deer and im in love.
For outsiders they probably arnt as appealing, but they seem to be common in south american zoos and also just look really distinct to other deer in their colours and antlers and idk they feel like i great fun pick to have in the game.
I especally adore the white eye markings and am just really falling in love with this species.
God damn i should have waited with my top 20 animals list
