Space Dementia is setting in!

I wonder whether Elite actually causes brain damage...you know, because it's so repetitive and boring? You know like, how people in solitary confinement suffer brain damage due to lack of stimuli? Yeah, kinda like that.

That feeling you get of wanting to eat a cactus or smash your own face through the monitor while exploring to relieve the boredom, that might be the signs of serious irreversible brain damage beginning to kick in.

I'm not fussed about brain damage. I'm sure the last 30 years of gaming has beaten ED to it. :D
Not to mention I played Eve Online for like, 3 years.
If I can do that, I can jump repeatedly for 3 years too! (Imagine how far I would go!.... In circles....!)

What do you guys do to delay the onset of space dementia? Lol

Delay? :D

The answers have primarily been given here. When you find space dementia affecting you in a bad way (as opposed to a good way), find a detour, or find a distraction. I generally prefer music, but have been known to watch a show or two. As for detours (assuming I have time for them)... what I found useful was to go a thousand ly, see if there are any interesting stars, scan those systems, then go another thousand.

Well I've come to the conclusion that it's just a temporary adjustment phase. Lol

After 10,000ly I barely notice any more. And setting a 999.99ly course is no longer an "Omg, I can't be bothered to go that far" rant. It's become "woooh, 1k closer to Sag A" lol

I'm getting there slowly, only 1800ly to The Great Annihilator, and 4000ly or so to Sag A. :D
I estimate I'll reach it sometime Monday, as I don't get hardly any time to play over the weekends.

I knew I shouldn't have brought that Life Simulator 2016 with me....

I've only just overcame that feeling too of dementia, I thought id made a huge mistake when I left the bubble, now at the half way point and slowly coming to realise that it was a good choice to come out here, prob only time I will see Sag A, can't wait to get back to populated space again though. How the other guys managed 65k ly..man kudos to you.

It's funny how that wierd 'why am I doing this?' feeling goes away after the half way mark.
I'm on the way back now, not stopping as much, but I'm only about 2000ly from Sag A.

Don't forget to stop by The Great Annihilator on the way, or way back. It's about 2000ly before Sag A. Roughly 350,-47, 23000 I believe.

A minor warning, A little space dementia return to you when you get close to Sag A, because of the damn nav computer not being able to cope with all the stars!
My trick was to just show non sequence stars and only 1 type of scoopable. Doesn't speed anything up, just makes it easier to see. Lol oh, and plotting courses below 300ly helps sometimes.

Every time Space Madness starts to set in, I just think of this and suddenly everything becomes clear again.

I'm with Ziggy here, just fall in tune with the spiralling arm of the cosmos as you spin towards the core....our out towards an arm, or nebula, or
Thargoid Outpost in witchspace

I've heard about the navigational issues and not looking forward to it, cheers for the heads up, only managed another 2k ly tonight, will get more done tomorrow with some luck, I keep stopping to scan systems and it's slowing my journey, maybe I'll just honk it to Sag A and set myself a goal of detailing every system within X amount of ly from the bubble on my way back, I'll check The Great Annihilator on the way back also, good luck with the rest of your trip home, let me know what is gets you in credits when you cash in.

I found music and voice pack Orion kept me going for a long trip to some nebulae. I have yet to make it to Sag A but I am going to be part of the Sidey trip out, so there's fun.

I properly scanned Sag A and it's companion star, no point flying all the way there for a honk. Lol
I found a odd semi reliable way to fix the nav computer.
Plot your course, wait a few seconds, and close the system map. Scan your systems main star, and waste a few seconds, then open the map again, and sometimes it will complete. FD need to fix it though, cos it's quite annoying not being able to plot a route. Lol
