Astronomy / Space Space Dust is greasy

For all some of us complain about the "space dust" and smeary canopy views in Elite Dangerous, it seems E D has once again gone where science tags along behind:

Space is full of dirty, toxic grease, scientists reveal

It looks cold, dark and empty, but astronomers have revealed that interstellar space is permeated with a fine mist of grease-like molecules.

Prof Tim Schmidt, a chemist at the University of New South Wales, Sydney and co-author of the study, said that the windscreen of a future spaceship travelling through interstellar space might be expected to get a sticky coating.

[where is it]

Cool :)

I don't mind space dust in any game, just the size of it (i need just the smallest of specks to get the speed sensation). when i see what look like cannon-balls flying by it just grates. Back in the days of Elite and Frontier: Elite II and FFE the low res resolutions of the day can be forgiven but these days we can render much smaller particles and effects.

I 'mod' them (large space snowballs) out of NMS for example by making smaller versions.

Next space station to be named "The Fonz"

And the restaurant at the end of the universe is now called, Greasy spoon

I concur to a point.

Perhaps the next large meteorite we miss that is traveling towards Earth should be called "The Fonz" and we can all go "Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" as we face an extinction level event.

"Nanoo, nanoo!" (Or words to that effect).
