Space Engine 0.93

I tried out the SpaceEngine - it is absolutely mind blowing and yes, Frontier should give the man a job instantly.
Couldn´t be any better than that.
Thanks for sharing.

All the best,
Robin

TBH it looks like our 'dream game' would be better realised by SpaceEngine borrowing ED assets, than the other way around.. SpaceEngine already has modding support and a growing community of contributors.

Either way though a little healthy competition should benefit everyone all round..

It is really incredible. Space Engine has jumped leaps and bounds since last I saw it. I would LOVE to try it with Oculus Rift.

But Space Engine afaik doesn't have the netcode framework that Cobra has built into it.. so I have no idea whether or not it would even be possible to do an MMO in this engine.
I guess one could ask on their forums about that. My guess is that it would require a whole lot of programming by the Space Engine guys to get it to support multiplayer to the same extent that ED does.
And even then, I'm not convinced that it would be able to support MMO-like multiplayer. But Flavien claims that I-Novae will, and it certainly would be awesome.

Agreed, competition is good for everyone.

It looks like there are great ambitions! :) Space Engine really needs a lot more exposure.

I can't believe Space Engine is actually being developed by 1 person. Incredible.

Well I belief it. The gameindustry was very strong focused on deep Epic story or corridor gameplay. There are sandboxes big enough to mach the gameplay. They handcrafted the content and due to more compute power more can be done by a lot handcrafting work force. How ever PCG is the solution to avoid large art teams.
apparently if you go for pure PCG you can make something with big scope. Far beyond the conventional big studio in content. And do it alone.

PCG is very old and common solution. But only few push it really far. Most of them don't use it because they don't need to.

Wow, very impressive! This engine makes ED's Cobra engine and the modified CryEngine of Star Citizen look like an amateur patch up job...
