Space Hulk Death Wing

Ah used to play the tabletop game, when everyone was marines I was Stealer's. Nothing more interesting than modelling mutant hybrids :)

WH40K Chaos here... Abaddon Rulez.
:) Got to fish out my models, I wasn't bad as a painter... ;)

Loved Dawn of War but I honestly think Relic made better RTS... COMPANY OF HEROES! The first was just awesome albeit unrealistic.
THe seconds (DOW II and COH II) just didn't get me.

Elephant in the room is Homeworld which I dealry loved for visuals and audio departments, but I really coudln't play it. :( Goshdarmit.

Some leaked gameplay, warning spoilers probably (I didn't watch it all) looks like good xeno-blasting fun though.

I like it, but the characters need more dialogue lines. The environments and combat must not be dull or repetitive.

Enjoying the Beta so far. The Tutorial is quite fun but currently too limited.

Multiplayer is, at the moment, horribly broken. Nothing too unusual for beta though.

I hope the SP game is going to be more strategy based though - things are a bit simplistic at the moment.

Yes...was going to say it's a prime example of why I don't want voices in Elite.

But there are already voices in Elite and a good thing it is! I find the radio chatter upon station entry great. The new tutorial missions are also about the best missions Elite has, thanks to having any narration at all and the pretty decent voice acting. It's more the procgen nature of Elite's "normal" missions that makes in nay way narrated missions wiht voice acting that doesn't feel utterly repetitive nigh impossible.

Unless I've missed something however, Space Hulk is more like a corridor shooter, no? It should be possible to have decent writing and voice acting. At least in theory.

It looks like the next L4D / Vermintide

Looking forward to this myself. I enjoyed Vermintide for a while but ultimately tired of it. as I did L4D1/2.

But the source material is what draws me to this one I think, and I'm not even a hard-core 40K fanatic so those people must be beside themselves at this point!

EDIT: Sat through the Totalbiscuit video on it. My hopes have been dashed.

At least one element shows a glaring design flaw because of its inherent need to cater for console controllers. You have one of those rosette style interfaces appear but instead of a cursor you can slew around with the mouse they appear to have some horrid joystick emulation going on. Coupled with other related interface oddities, like shortcut keys that only pop up when you are already over them making them pointless, I can now see why they are trying to sucker folks in with their 15% off pre-order deal.

Staying well clear of this one until reviews start to come in. So disappointed as it actually looked like fun.

It's been fun for me so far - played the first campaign mission a few times to try and eek out some issues. Performance is generally good - but there is sound clipping I don't remember from the beta.

There are some interface problems - the map is very unintuitive and there are very inconsistent movement controls. Graphics are really quite nice - but now there are clipping and no-draw problems that weren't there in the beta. The HUD doesn't scale well on triple screen and trying to read things is a literal pain in the neck.

Hopefully these will get patched out - but they aren't game breaking - as far as the campaign goes.

Multiplayer is another matter - as expected it's already full of pew-pews PK'ing, offensive server names, poor latencies and unexplainable disconnects.

Oh well.

I may wait a little while before downloading (already pre-ordered) - I have plenty of other stuff to play in the meantime, hopefully the devs will issue a patch in the next week or so and I can play this one over the Christmas holidays.

Apparently the AI is bad and co-op play is tacked on as a minimally implemented afterthought.

I think we (my friends and I who got this game for co-op play) will be getting a refund :(

My friend and I played the multiplayer for a while last night and aside from 1 crash, we had great fun. I really enjoyed the single player too.

Sure it's a bit clunky at the moment, but it can only really be improved by patches from here on.

Loving it. Looking forward to getting home to have another bash this evening.

Was so looking forward to this but cant even get it to run, keep getting runtime error and i've tried everything, got it on pre order, waited for it now asked steam for my money back.

One to avoid then it seems. Shame, such a rich lore to draw off.

It's a massive bummer. The visuals are pretty much spot on as well.

What kind of FPS games do you play? Are you familiar with L4D and/or Vermintide?

There have been a lot of complaints about enemy AI. You didn't think it was dumb as a short plank?
