Space Installation defence/raid scenario problem

There's this bug.
When installation is owned by a faction that's not in control of the system, during installation defence scenario initialisation, instead of installation owner being in charge of defence, faction that's controlling the system is shown. At the end of the scenario (if you've won the defence) you're shown that system controlling faction (not controlling the installation) gained influence and you gained reputation with them.
Here's the bug on the Issue Tracker: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/2116

But this is weird one, because I'm not actually sure what's going on there.
Defending ships are correctly affiliated to the faction owning the installation. When accidentally shooting the station, you gain fine or bounty with the owner of the installation. All as it should be.
Now, when you win defence, you gain reputation with the faction that's in control of the system - the one incorrectly shown as being in charge of the defence. That I can clearly see, because reputation rises immediately.
But I'm not sure about influence.
For the last two days I did couple of those scenarios and next day influence of the faction actually owning the installation increased a little bit.
I can't be sure what was responsible for that change, so I wanted to ask if anyone knows more about it.

It would be great to have it fixed, but unfortunately I don't believe it's going to happen soon (if ever). Therefore I was hoping to understand how that bug affects the mechanics, so maybe I wouldn't need to avoid certain scenarios, not wanting to boost wrong faction influence. If that bug results only in reputation gained with wrong faction, it might not be as bad as everyone thinks.
