Spare a thought for the Mac players...

The base install of Windows isn't huge and you'd have to install E:D (plus Horizon) anyway. Hard drives are dirt cheap anyway!

I actually went down this route initially. However, I had to give up about 50GB of my internal 500GB SSD, and even that was a bit too tight to be comfortable. And it's an iMac, so replacing the internal drive is pretty much a no-no (and is a whole other argument I'm not interested in having).

I eventually opted for Plan 'B', which was to buy a gaming PC. Not the cheapest option but arguably the most cost effective going forwards.

Thing is though, Apple stopped updating OpenGL several major OS releases ago. As soon as I saw that (and we're talking years ago now) it became obvious to me which way the wind was blowing, and I started to make plans. I wish I could say the same for Frontier.

There will always be platform wars, regardless of what year it is.
Console to Console.
Console to PC.
PC to PC.
PC to Apple.
Apple to Android. etc etc etc

Can't escape from it.

I'm with @robbyp in that case - BBC Micro all the way, baby!

(and yes, I have one. Two actually)

As much as my brother (MAC) and I (PC gaming computer) tease each other about our computers each HAD their place in the world. My brother has had one for the longest time. He does video production work for his church organization. I've watched him work on it when visiting him. They work very well and easily for the things he does.

That said, the last year or two, things don't always work as well as they did. Certain updates on video production software no longer functions as well on his MAC. The programs crash or lock up. This has to do with video drivers and video cards installed in the MACs that you can't upgrade (like you can with a PC).

He's already started looking into getting a PC so he can continue his work. This was one of the reasons why FD said they had to discontinue support for MACs - shading, etc, things that had to do with video card operations. BTW, I did offer to build him a monster but I think he's going to look for one on his own. The fact that you can upgrade the video card is a huge factor in the difference between the two types of machines.

MAC shot themselves in the foot by making the box proprietary instead of making them upgradeable like a PC. This is how certain species go extinct.

I know my friend. Othes don't see the ugly truth about it. It was always like this...

And so, with 30 enemies to kill, I turn to my trusty MacBook Pro while I am at work for the first time in ages........... or then again no I don't.
