Spec Ops Contract advice please!

Picked up a mission, turned out to be massacre 30 civilians. Well, ok, if the pay is right 👍
Problem is, I'm lucky if I can shoot two of the blighters before they jump out.
Shields go down fast, target FSD, there you go jumped out.

Advice on tactics, weapons etc?

Currently using bounty hunting Corvette.

I'd rather target thursters, they go down faster it seems (maybe because they are easier to hit)
You can also try the engineer effect that reboot fsd, I haven't yet so I don't know if it would be usefull.

For civilians? If you're getting the ones with small ships, then I use an FDL - two packhounds, the rest multicannons (incendiary on the mediums, corrosive on the huge) and target drives.
If I'm getting civvie assassinations of orca sized and up, then a frag mamba is great at them for the same reasons it's great at ganking.

Most I usually get is 3 before they are gone, sometimes just two, which means a bunch of in/out/in/out....

I get right up on the first one, 4 pips weapons, and completely unload everything, then scramble for as many more as I can get.

I've never used a frag boat for these, but that's a good idea and I'll probably try it out soon.

I know this is quite an old post but in case it helps anyone else that arrives here like I did ...

I tried this with a corvette so I could mass lock them but then I couldn't catch them and I tried in an FDL so I could catch them but then I couldnt mass lock them ;-). It may also be they were high-waking in which case MLF doesn't matter - don't remember and I only discovered that fact about mass-locking recently.

What DID work was to ignore the mission signal sources and just go to the nav beacon instead. In my case the target was the controlling faction (I'm guessing that is normally the case?) so lots of clean ships for the right faction turned up, showed as a mission target and they did attack and fight to the death (theirs not mine :D) when provoked. You still get griefed by bounty hunters and security turn up occasionally but jumping to SC and dropping back in is pretty quick (and both can be ignored for quite a long time with a strong ship so you can finish any work in progress).

Nav beacons never worked for me. I tried several times and couldn't find mission targets there.

However, I do those missions using beam+MC 590 m/s Phantom. If I don't profoundly screw things up I'm able to kill 3-7 ships by USS, depending on mission level. The only exception are 50M-worth Elite missions. The targets are tough and there are so many of them the mission takes a lot of time and usually I have to rearm before the mission is complete. So I prefer 35-45M missions.

Here is how I do it.
1. Once you killed what you can, exit the game, and reload. The signal source is exactly where you are, so you can rinse and repeat without wasting time in supercruise getting to a different location for the signal source.

2. I like to pick ASP Explorer, ASP Scount and Adder when available to ram them so their shields goes down. Raming does NOT trigger the others to high wake out so that is a huge help. I can generally just kill two before going back to step 1. I preer the ASP and Adder because they are considered cargo ships, less fast to run away or dodge than the other smaller ships.

3. As for build, I use a Krait MK II,

Weapon Loadout :
A. pack hounds,
B.1 beam laser to take out the drives, if they start to charge up their drives, only THEN do I use the pack hounds
C. one medium frag cannon with drag munitions experimental
D. multi cannons, one with high capacity with corrosive shell, the other overcharge with autoloader
