Speccy Elite desktop for the DK2

I got tired of quitting Elite while still wearing the Rift and getting a face full of whatever random desktop picture comes with Windows. So I made a new desktop from a ZX Spectrum Elite screenshot (yes yes impure I know - but my family couldn't afford one of those fancy BBCs when I was a kid).

And then I thought - well why not make it properly 3D - as if we'd had the Rift back in 1984. A little work with MSPaint later and... voila! If you play in Extended mode, just set this as your desktop image and it should just work. I didn't apply proper distortion or chromatic aberration or any of that because then it wouldn't be a valid ZX Spectrum image. These things are important to me :)

Thanks for sharing, but can't see the image. May need to convert it to JPEG first.

Nice idea man. It feels like its trying to pull my eyeballs apart though so wont be using it.

But have some reps :-]

PS - Have a play with VR Desktop. Its a pretty fine piece of software and a cracking showcase of the Rifts potential.

Nice....but you know you can also run Virtual Desktop alongside Elite. That way you always see your desktop in perfect VR goodness.

Have you tried this? So if I am playing the game and exit out it should kick right to the virtual desktop if I have it running alongside? I like this idea.
