Welcome back, Park Managers, to the Species Field Guide!
In this series of articles we will be spotlighting some of the incredible 75+ different species of dinosaurs and reptiles you will be bio-engineering and caring for in Jurassic World Evolution 2. You can expect to see both new and familiar faces as we introduce you to the stars of the show. We are incredibly excited about everything we have to share with you, and we hope you will enjoy these articles!
For our sophomore entry we're taking a look at a brand new dinosaur, never before seen in the Jurassic World Evolution series! This Early Cretaceous sauropod is know for its parallel rows of tall spines running down its neck and back. We are delighted that Amargasaurus is coming to Jurassic World Evolution 2!
Amargasaurus was a large animal, but smaller than its fellow sauropods, reaching around 9-10 meters in length and approximately 2.6 metric tons. Like other sauropods, it had a long tail and neck, a small head, and a large torso supported by four thick and column-like legs. While relatively small, that's still an impressive size and weight!
The only known Amargasaurus skeleton was discovered in 1984 in Argentina, during an expedition that also uncovered an almost complete Carnotaurus skeleton.
Its biggest and most noticeable feature are the tall neural spines along the dinosaur's neck and upper back. These spines were bifurcated, forming a double row, which they've retained after being brought back to life thanks to genetic engineering.
Amargasaurus is comfortable alone or in small groups of other individuals. They require a moderately sized enclosure with plenty of plants and greenery. Being Sauropods, they only eat greens and leaves, but won't reach the tallest tree tops because of their size. They get along well with other Herbivores and are generally peaceful dinosaurs that should be fairly easy to take care of.
We hope you've enjoyed this introduction to the Amargasaurus, the first of several new dinosaurs coming to Jurassic World Evolution 2. We would love to hear your thoughts about it in the comments below! Will you bioengineer them for your Parks?
There are several more dinosaurs for us to show you in the coming weeks and months. Be prepared to see both new and familiar faces as we highlight a small portion of the ancient creatures you will be able to rescue and bioengineer in Jurassic World Evolution 2. Don't forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for all things Jurassic World Evolution 2!
