Welcome back, Park Managers, to the Species Field Guide!

In this series of articles, we're spotlighting some of the incredible dinosaurs and reptiles coming to Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn Expansion (link) later this year. We are incredibly excited about everything we have to share in the coming days.

This week's entry is a dinosaur that's new to both Jurassic World Evolution 2 and the Jurassic World universe as a whole. This Late Cretaceous paravian dinosaur is characterised by its beautiful, bright red plumage, and is a long distant cousin of the Velociraptor. Say hello to Pyroraptor:

The Pyroraptor is a relatively recent discovery, first found in Provence, France, in 1992. A single partial specimen was found after a forest fire at the foot of Mont Olympe, which in turn gave it its name, which means "Fire Thief". Luckily, these bones were enough to give scientists a good idea of what the dinosaur could have looked like, estimating it to be a small, bird-like predatory theropod with well-developed forelimbs and large curved claws on each foot. The claws were likely used as weapons, against both prey and predators.

Its bird-like body is adorned with a bright red plume of feathers, which spreads out along its back and arms. The feathering continues down the dinosaur's spine, ending in a set of blueish-grey tail feathers that enhances its avian appearance.

Much like its distant cousin, Pyroraptor is a social animal preferring to be surrounded by at least a few others of the same species. Leaving one alone in an enclosure is a sure-fire way to ensure it will eventually escape and cause havoc in your park. Being carnivores, they won't hesitate to go after your guests if they can, and they'll rarely get along with other carnivores. They're best kept to themselves in a group, without anyone else to disturb their territory.

In terms of environmental needs, your Pyroraptors will mainly need a fair bit of open space, with some forest coverage. They'll also need prey to hunt, as well as water to drink. Make sure you care for these new additions to your parks and they will surely attract guests from both near and far!

We hope you've enjoyed this brief introduction to the Pyroraptor, coming to the game in Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn Expansion on 14 June. Share your thoughts of them in the comments below, and let us know what you think! Will you be bio-engineering them in your parks?

It’s great to finally have a feathered dromeosaur in a Jurassic game! Are the Pyroraptors going to pack hunt? That would be awesome.
Thanks so much! :) I'm not 100% sure if they pack hunt, so guess we'll have to wait and see!
Look absolutely amazing. Can't wait for the 14th! Amazing job :love::love:
Thanks you so much nuunuu!

Awesome! Excellent! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Hello, while this is a gorgeous creature I was wondering what happened to half of the JWD creatures.
If anything, they will come in some other way. I have no doubt they will all be in the game at some point, but how I don't know.

There are however, three theories I can think of on what they might do. Either another Dominion expansion that focuses on something else that isn't Biosyn valley or Sierra Nevada, a free update to coincide with Dominion's official release like JWE1's Fallen Kingdom or BaBR updates, or they could just be a Dominion themed dino pack just like the Camp Cretaceous Dinosaur Pack. I also have a feeling there might be something else new besides what's already known, especially for one particular species based on a toy, but there's no way of truly knowing yet because, as far as I know, I could be wrong.

Which species is that one based on a toy?
I suspect that the creatures (Atroci, Ovia, Moros, Micrceratus, Lystrosaurus and Iguanadon variant) can come in one of the following ways:
1. June 10th Malta DLC with a Malta map;

2. Part of a second JW CC DLC pack (there are still two creatures from CC that we are missing in the form of Smilodon and Spinoceratus) called Mantah Expansion which would include both a Mantah Island and a Malta maps as well a 5th faction in the game. I say this because I suspect Mantah Corp has a role to play with the events in Dominion;

3. A second JWD DLC Expansion with two new maps (Malta and Socotra Island) and another faction to the game

I hope that beyond new creatures, we get more factions and maps as well park attractions with some more QOL updates to the game.

The one I'm thinking of is the Coelurus.

If you look back at Mattel's first basic models for the
Allosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus, Dimetrodon, and Monolophosaurus, the four dinosaurs have radically different basic 3D models for later toys to better represent their on-screen appearances from whatever show they market respectively (Allosaurus being a unique exception in that it started as the juvenile design, until BaBR when all later Allo toys represent the adult version). Poses, colors, wounds, scan prints, and movable parts don't count.

The
Coelurus from the Dominion toyline is the only dinosaur from Mattel's main toylines with a drastic basic 3D model design that's different from its other toy model designs (more pronounced scutes on its back and a feathery head) without any indirect confirmation it's based on an appearance in a film or whatever. So unless this is an exception where they deviated away from that kind of redesign approach to better represent something on-screen for this one time, which is a possibility, Coelurus may be in Jurassic World: Dominion. Besides, aside from Trevorrow confirming Moros inrepidus is in the final film, as well as several revealed set animatronics for the small dinos, there are no official images or video of the show's small animal species from the film itself yet. Not even the Oviraptor is said to be beyond the prologue, but I have no doubts that it is. So who knows what other small dino species Dominion has, if any?

Cool, we shall know in a few days time of the creatures there are.

Coelorus it's not on the film, there is not any new dino in the movie that we don't know about it sadly, in Mexico was the premiered a week ago and I watched the movie
