Species Number

So JWE2 is supposed to launch with 75+ Species.

However with every bit of gameplay, the hatcheries (all of them) show the number of unlocked species out a maximum of 74.

So with approaching launch. I'm curious to know if the 75+ means with deluxe edition since gameplay doesn't show them included.

And I want to know why people think that the whole original roster will be returning because if the 74 thing is true, then the math doesn't add up.

Or a better question would be, if the 74 species is accurate or is it something for the Dev Builds and the number is meant to be changed?

For me it would be disappointing, spare for Elasmosaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus and Amargasaurus, nothing I wished for made it in yet..

No pre-dinosaurs like Dimetrodon, useless dinosaurs returning like aerghornitjomimus, no quetzalcoatlus, no tapejara, no smaller ceratopsians like psittacosaurus and protoceratops, no prosauropods, no therizinosaurus, deinocheirus, gigantoraptor, crylophosaurus, no new hadrosaurs like Shantungosaurus snd Lambeosaurus, no other small herbivores like Hypsilophodon and Lesothosaurus... Not even the Wuerosaurus, you know, a stegosaur that actually looks different... No Oviraptor, but I guess it will be dlc...

If the 3 hybrids (especially the Ankylodocus) make it back in, over things like Shunosaurus and Saltasaurus, I really don’t know what they are doing...

Very disappointing so far.

At least the graphics and behaviors are good this time...

It means that the development build that the gamers were playing had 74 species slots in it, and that's all it means. Frontier has consistently said the base game will have more than 75 species.

Every dinosaur from JWE 1 is returning, there's almost a 100% chance of that. I'd say 99% at this point. We know this due to the inclusion of the Dr. Wu hybrids besides Indominus Rex and Indoraptor (which were obviously always going to return), and due to the inclusion of non-canon non-movie dinosaurs from the first game, even some dinosaurs that were DLC in the first game. These would be the first dinosaurs cut if indeed they were cutting dinosaurs from JWE 1, and so far we've seen species after species making it back.

Like I said in a post a few months ago, this should have been people's assumption from the beginning. Frontier already has all the models, they're not going to throw them away and waste development time on building new models to replace the old ones.

So there are 79 base game species if you include the species announced so far and every dinosaur from JWE 1, 84 if you include the deluxe edition. I think it has the potential to go higher. People have pointed out that there are 6 marine reptiles (7 including deluxe edition) and only 4 pterosaurs (5 w/ deluxe edition) and 3 new dinosaurs (5 w/ deluxe edition), so may two more pterosaurs and two more dinosaurs? That would make 7 new species of each if you get the deluxe edition. Or maybe not, we'll see.

And JWE1 had Pack Hunting, Sleeping dinosaurs, and Resting dinosaurs, only one of those made it into the game.

Placeholder numbers mean nothing if we don’t get evidence for the contrary. We have been misled in the past. I’m not saying that I’m right, I’m saying, hope for the best, but expect the worst.

I don't think there is need for worry if we take a look at frontier records with number of animals.
JWE was announced with 30+ species and we had 42+6 in the base game, planet zoo was announced with 50+animals and we ended up with ~70 in the base game.

So if they are saying 75+ it probably does means there will be a little more than that in the game.

Technically it was 37 with JWE but the point remains the same. 42 was with deluxe. Which we know JWE2 won’t include in the 75+ as they said in the Deluxe edition post.

It seems like we will have every Dinosaur from the first game, so that's 68 I believe. We will every new dinosaur or reptile we have seen for JWE2 so far and that includes DLC animals. The hybrids will be in the game and that includes the Dr. Wu DLC hybrids. So we are looking at over 80 dinosaurs and reptiles.

I watched a video a by BestInSlot and he said that it seems Frontier undersold the amount of dinosaurs and reptiles we will be getting in the game. He said this happened with the first game. They gave us kind of a number then delivered more. The same thing is happening here. We will most likely have over 80 animals on release.

We will most likely get more cause of the Dominion release and the DLC dinosaur packs they will release after that. So we could get over 100 or close to it depending on how much DLC we get with new dinosaurs and reptiles.

Also they will all have new texture work, new skins, new animations, new sounds and so on. What Frontier is doing is pretty amazing when you think about all the work put into the game. They will all kind of be "new" in some way. I can't wait to see what the Edmontosaurus looks like. It has some of the nicer looking skins in the first game.

That's been my thoughts and hope from the start as well. I always knew we would get every dinosaur from the first game. For the same reason that you stated, cause Frontier already had the models from the first game and it would be stupid to throw them away when all they had to do was work on them a little bit for the new game. It saved them a lot of time I imagine. But people were so obsessed with dinosaurs getting cut and which ones would go and which ones would stay. With lists having dinosaurs from the movies as "confirmed" which is a waste of time cause everyone should have known that. If it was in the movies it will be in the game cause it has to be.

We will have over 80 dinosaurs and reptiles on release most likely and when/if the Dominion DLC gets released probably closer to 90. Then if this game gets any post release content support the way JWE did we could end up with over 100 dinosaurs and reptiles.
