GTX 745 is the weak link here. Very weak to be honest.
GTX 970 would be good for horizons. Or even a GTX 760.

As ever with these things it depends what resolution you will be playing at and what FPS you expect. And whether you are happy to play on low graphics settings or expect to play on ultra.

If money is tight, I would buy a cheaper CPU and spend the money saved on a much more powerful graphics card. Do you play ED now? In space this game is not especially demanding, however planets are pushing the GPU pretty hard.

In case you haven't seen it, these are the official min/recommended specs:

Thanks for the feedback, I am OK with ED but do not have the specs for horizons (despite owning it!) so no planets for me :(
looks like I am back to the drawing board, any recommendations for a supplier?

Personally I like to start with Novatech. Simply because they have always been reliable and their after sales is first class. http://www.novatech.co.uk/

Others may have their own preferences.

My current PC, I mostly bought from Novatech, but the case I found, after a long search, on Amazon. Cases are a personal matter. I like mine understated, but many like bells, and flashing lights. It's up to you.

If you do plan to build, then start with a good case.

If you want ready made, then again, not to push it too hard, Novatech is a good place to start.

I will strongly suggest, if you want a ready built machine, to buy from a reliable supplier. Bargains are cheap for a reason.

Thanks for your feedback Patrick_68000, unfortunately my current PC wont let me play Horizons. I expect the new Pascal GPU wont be cheap for a while so I may get the new PC then upgrade to one later and spread the cost.
