Mody headsets allow you to put your normal glasses inside them, so it shouldn't be a problem. There are also prescription lenses to swap offered by 3rd party vendors, so in theory you should be good... But better try it somewhere first.
I also wear bi-focals and reading glasses for the pc. I use my reading glasses when using my Oculus Quest. There is easily enough room to accommodate them and the Quest (and I presume the Rift too) comes with an insert separator if you feel you need a bit of extra clearance.

I can't recommend prescription headset inserts enough. Glasses off, headset on. No faffing at all.
Give them (or whomever you choose to use) your distance prescription. I wear bifocals as well - it is definitely the distance correction you want.

In normal day to day life I wear bi-focals as well but for my monitors I had a prescription made up that is tailored to match the distance I sit from my monitors.
For VR I own a Reverb and the Index plus Oculus so I selected the smallest wire frames I could find that are far smaller than the width of my face and I find I can the wear these in all my VR headsets without any interferance what so ever. My VR lenses are fixed at distance and do not require any form of bi- focal and the cost was only and extra £50 for them.

why on Earth using reading glasses with a VR Headset?
they focuses immages like they were some meters away. At best you need nearsighted glass if you suffer myopia.
Are you seriously trying to tell me which glasses I should wear?
no, but reading glasses are not needed to focus images in a VR headset.

I don't want to say that You are doing anything wrong, but I personally started to take off my bifocals before playing in VR, and put on regular diopter glasses. I feel better.
Using Rift, strong myopia (about -10) myself. Started VR with using an older set of (general purpose, single focus) glasses, because the frame of my most recent one was definitely too big. It worked, to an extent. But still no comparison to the prescription lenses I ordered.
You should note that on ordering the prescription lenses it asks you for the values of the glasses used for far sight, not your reading glasses. And in case of bifocals, to leave out the "Addition" values - they describe the change to be done for the "near" part of the lens, in relation to the default value.
