Just some thoughts on what we will see in the Odyssey Alpha and when it might drop.
The Fleet Carrier launch had a 9 week period from the start of the beta phase to the full release. Assuming an alpha phase of only 2 weeks, a week gap between alpha and beta, a 9 week long beta phase and a launch date of 21st April ... the latest we should expect an alpha is in late January. Odyssey obviously is a much larger addition to the game and should maybe require a beta period as long if not longer than that with Fleet Carriers. There are many reasons to even contest the idea of the release date being as late as 21st April, meaning we could even see an alpha in mid to early January.
What the alpha will look like is more cause for speculation. My best guess is that it will almost be a tech demo in a way, restricting us to certain aspects of gameplay. Maybe an arena type thing where we just loadup and fight pvp/pve on a settlement. I don't really see the alpha being like what we expect from betas, in terms of being linked to your existing CMDR. I see it as more the Single Player Combat Training mode.
To even think that we may actually be getting proper hands on gameplay of odyssey in 3-6 weeks is crazy.
