Speculation about exploration

That rhymes! Kind of.

I was watching this -

At 12:30, David Braben says, "But what we're seeing at the moment is just the very top level of exploration where, you know, you're visiting a system. As things unfold, you'll get more and more things, where... exploration might require you to go down to the surface. You know, all sorts of things that can come over time."

So he's replying to someone asking about richness in the game - that's part of his answer. So while it's probably a really bad idea to indulge in a lot of silly speculation, I thought I'd indulge in a lot of silly speculation :)

Cities, ruins, alien archaeology sites, crash sites... flora, fauna, strange new species... what kind of thing might be scannable and sellable back in human space, at these deeper levels of exploration?

In Starflight I always enjoyed bringing back lifeform specimens. It seemed like the Thing To Do when visiting an alien world in my big, bad space ship.

Capturing and bringing back alien lifeforms would be even harder to do! But very cool. And, hm, well, there's been much talk of big game hunting as being a desirable feature, so if that's possible, why not tranquilising animals and bringing them back alive?
