Speculation on what will change Dec 16th...

Hey Guys,
Just wondering what you guys think will happen on the 16th, from rumors, or from official releases.. keeping it light and friendly however, no "they should have had this".. just a simple "This is what I think will be different then today" kind of post, and lets see whos the closest!

I havent heard much of whats going down on the 16th, as I want most of it to be a suprise when it happens, however.. Im more of a Glass 1/2 empty kind of person ;) My honest thoughts are as follows:

  • I will log in and have to create a new Pilot
  • I will have 100 credits
  • I will sit in my Sidewinder and weep for a bit while I accept the loss of my cobra :)
  • I will fly out the door to the new world where I dont have to live in fear of my credits resetting and can work towards a real goal
  • I will run into the same errors and bugs as I do today with missions and game crashes...
  • I will hear of all these fantastic battles of capital ships and factions taking over the galaxy but will never stumble across any of it for some reason
  • I will be interdicted by ghost AI that was never on my radar beforehand just because the game thinks 10 minutes without being interdicted was long enough..
  • I will wonder where the heck everyone is...

Granted i *HOPE* i will fly out the door and get an alert on my comms that a nearby capital ship is heading towards my sector and see 40 commanders all FS in its general direction for a grand battle while i see the galaxy map slowly being taken over with faction bounderies and contested zones.. But im asuming since we havent seen anything of this sort in game 6 days before release,, it wont be there when it does..

So... what do you think will happen or change on the 16th?

They're not wiping progress for launch, you'll keep your cobra.
Personally I'd prefer it if they reset everyone, I always think saves should never carry over from pre-release, on any game, but either way.

Yeah thats news to me, i thought it was a wipe for sure, ive done some really stupid stuff in my cobra with the idea it would be wiped from my record! :) it makes sense too.. Oh well.. another thread for that i guess..

I expect you'll probably be able to start fresh if you want to, there's probably an option to create a new pilot (I don't know, since I only have the combat demo :( )

No wipe, but it hardly matters. The Plot (what ever that may be) doesn't start until the 16th, so Gamma people have no real head start as far as what's going to happen. We may have nicer ships and a bit of money, but we're not going to have as great an advantage over First Day players as they will have over later buy-ins. And to be frank, there's not really any advantage to speak of aside from game experience (which we were always going to have regardless of wipes). It took me a week to earn a Cobra, and if I'd knuckled down and just played to make money I'd probably be flying an Asp by now.

And yeah - you can just reset your save if you want, at any time.

You can clear your save any time you wish and create a new pilot from scratch.

I'm hoping for multiple pilot slots. Want to create an Imperial Assassin, an Alliance Explorer and a Bounty Hunter.

I'm not really concerned about any advantage other players might have. Actually, I think it's the other way round; I think it'd be more dangerous, competitive and fun if everyone started fresh. The people with their anacondas and their millions of credits have no real reason to bother with Bambi Jameson in his default sidewinder; no real profit to be made. So I feel like the "veterans" are just going to ignore the newbies for the most part. If everyone started out with nothing to lose and everything to gain, I think there'd be a lot more fighting, competing, and general peril.

But yeah, it doesn't matter all that much, really. I'd personally reset if I had early access, but it's individual's choice :)
