Interesting concept OP, I've watched the clips with DB talking about aliens and think its going to fold out abit differently. The Thoriods will ignore the human bubble and will seek to destroy their own. I read that there are two factions, with the weaker one seeking to run from the more dangerous stronger one. I also read that the weaker one would try to use the bubble as a 'meat shield' to save themselves.
I think it fits with DB's vision of what Alien is and it has something to do with the humanity being infiltrated to work towards the thoriod sub-factions goals (who to trust, missions, passengers, cargo, factions etc). I think areas may become overwhelemed like you suggest but i think i would use the work infested as they search for what they need and ignore us unless we get in the way or take on a mission that conflicts with their interests. Hoping most of their story comes down to the personal level and intrigue so we can get involved.
I'm thinking the scans they do on ships entering the Pliadies are looking for something, and have been for sometime. Just seems odd their not attacking yet. Lots of mysteries in this game, too bad most of it goes well over my head and i play with the vive so spreadsheets and other word games are a no go. Though i did find a comms station in the pliadies recently with a mercenry wing guarding it while looking for some good mining and mineral gathering spots.
