Speed Units

Hi CMDRs, it seems i'm in a curious mood tonight/morning, i have had a question brilliantly answered allready regarding clean and dirty drives, but my question now is what is the C speed unit in SC ? I know meters per second in thrusters, KM/s must be kilometers a second, MM/s i can only assume is million miles a second , but i can't figure out the C in supercruise, i have played the game for nearly 45 days and think it's time i knew what it stands for, so i can figure out whether it's scientific or just an ED FSD thing for game purposes only.

I love the science-y aspect of the game - most of the game is built on hard scientific data (like the procedurally generated planets, stars, body composition, etc)

One of the many reasons i love the game is all this hard science, it enhances my keen interest for both sci fi and space science, really gets me looking up at the stars. Megameters by the way, good shout, i would have gone on thinking it was million miles, which i now know doesn't make sense. Cheers CMDR, o7, and goodnight, it's almost 2:45 AM UK time , what am i doing lol ? Science, answers come before sleep, thanks again.
