Speeding warning

Hi All.

Is anyone else having problems with the speeding like if you stay under the limit you get a trespass warning because you are taking too long in the dock entrance then you get a fine/wanted notifications or you see other ships speed in front of you forcing you to slow down even more and some station won't let you dock as you enter then start to fire at you.

Since this has been introduced i've had nothing but fines for trespassing and being wanted, i'm doing nothing wrong than i was before its introduction and the station won't let you or there's no way to pay the fines Why!!.

And on leaving a station you get scanned and if you are already wanted for the trespass fines you then get fired on and i've seen this happened to many a ship as they leave.

If you are experiencing any of these or even one of them then we have a problem and the developers need to fix it.

This will not happen. If you are experiencing it then you are doing something wrong. Best advice for you is to post a video (video capture software is free) so we can have a look at it and correct you/advise you accordingly.

I have had zero issues to date relating to speeding.

I've not had any of that sort of thing. 100 should be easily enough to get in and out in good time.

For the most parts i ignore the speed limit, as long as i don't see a player docked or nearby. Was fined only once, because a NPC rammed me from behind while i was leaving the station.

Are you sure you are asking for docking permission and not forgetting, I dont know why but since the speeding thing Ive forgotten a few times, either that or just not noticing it hasnt been accepted.

You dont need to fly at the speed limit either, it just means if you hit something you will get a fine.

I can't drive 55...erm...100

Don't matter if I'm flying an Eagle or a T7...FULL SPEED

More seriously...occasionally I fly like a respectable person and obey the limits...have not had any of the problems you mention. When I'm observing the limit, I generally keep things at about 90 m/s

You only need to go just under 100 to avoid the speeding warning.

You only get a warning (nothing else) unless you hit another ship.

I generally speed every single time exiting and entering a station unless I see other ships that I might collide with and then I drop below 100.

If you are getting trespass warnings you are going too slow.

If you are getting fined then you have collided with another ship while going about 100.

Overall it is quite simple. As suggested before, if you are having trouble, maybe record your flight so we can advise better.

You dont get a tresspass warning for driving too slow, you get one for trying to dock without permission. You Get a loitering warning for taking too long over pads and in the doorway.

I am going to guess you have your mouse wheel turned way up to the point there isn't any gray area. Not sure if this makes any sense to you? Go to your settings.

Hi all

I do keep under the 100 and still have issues like i said and i'm doing nothing different now than before the introduction of the speed limit well that is since the 1.3.4 update when i started to have this issue.

Well I've just done a test.
Adder at Goldstein in Lembava. Undocked and flew out to about 3km, turned around, requested docking and flew back in.
All at 86 on the dial.

No trespass, loitering warnings or anything.

Suspect you're either getting hit by a bug or making a mistake somewhere.

I speed with impunity, trespassing means you've entered a station with no docking request, loitering for hanging around the wrong pad too long and will get fined for doing so.

Suggestions, practice docking faster, and make sure you request permission, or simply buy a docking computer module, and finally if speeding don't hit anything or let anything hit you...

I've had no problems at all since the 'speeding' change, I didn't even notice it until reading about it on here. But I guess I probably fly like my nan drives...

As a habit: I retract landing gear immediately and fly out at about 80-90ish. When outside if there's little traffic I'll four pips top speed and boost. Only had one fine so far and that was my fault, I was multi tasking and not paying attention.

I sometime get 'trespass warnings' in the Anaconda as I fly out a bit slower (60ish) but immediately after the warning its' always followed with an 'infractions cleared' message.

Take it easy and you should be ok,

Hi ALL

I've been playing for over three months and only few times i got a trespass warning for getting to close to another dock and that was when i lowered the landing gear and the ship slowed just over those docks.

And this game's docking is no different to the original Elite game so i'm no novice to the way the docking procedure is it only got a bit trickier since 1.3.4 update and do to the fact i was in the powerplay at the time now i'm out of powerplay and the short test i did i had no problem.

On a few times i got docking permission flew in at about 80 and on entering i got the trespass warning and had to leave quickly as the dock closed and the stations weapons open fire now i know i was not wanted i was going in the green side at the right speed so why is it happening.

If it is a bug then why is it so bad that the developers didn't spot it in testing before releasing in that case i should place this thread in the bug section.

I guess 80 might be too slow, Ive never tried that slow. To me it seems maybe you might be trying a little too hard to be careful, forget trying to crawl in there on the green side, Just plough through which ever way you fit. :)

For me to think it was a bug I would have to have seen it or at least heard someone else mention it.

Hi ste.

I have tried it at 96 and above 100 but as i said it was with powerplay and since 1.3.4 and then it was troublesome as soon as the speed warning i get the wanted warning so keeping around 80 helped i got less issues depending on station, anything lower than 70 to 50 i got the trespass warning and as soon as i speed up to 80 bang i get wanted and fragged.

Now that i had left the powerplay and got fragged for the third time the issue has settled down.

And yes i'm thinking it's a bug more to do with powerplay than normal play.

My entrance speed is never below 150 and exit speed is full throttle, sometimes with a boost, this reduces the stations opportunity to scan my ship for illicit cargo, which I am usually transporting. I have the same approach for outposts as well, but system authority vessels can and will successfully scan your ship while you're docking at outposts, irrespective of how efficient your berthing methods are. There are no speeding fines in space, fines and/or bounties are issued for impeding entrances/exits and/or damaging other vessels during entrances/exits. :p
