Speeding warning

I don't even care for speed limits on motorways, how could I care for a space station? Overtaking a Jag is just as much fun as overtaking a Python! Just go as fast as you can, hitting as few as you can.

I tried keeping to the speed limit once, but found it frustrating going so slow - sorry I haven't experienced the OP's issue.

For me its full speed all the way :)

Thanks all i must have hit a bug that just affected me while i was in powerplay, will have another go later now i'm out of powerplay.

I've noticed that the NPCs are now less aggressive and will try to get out of the way instead of trying to ram you. So at least it's an upside.

Of course, the dock remains a dangerous place. And 100 is ridiculously slow - even with my fully loaded T9 I occasionally get "speeding" when I enter through the mailslot.

For the most parts i ignore the speed limit, as long as i don't see a player docked or nearby. Was fined only once, because a NPC rammed me from behind while i was leaving the station.

Isn't this moronic though. Just because you were above the warning limit, you get fined for not being able to avoid the NPC going even faster behind you! Surely that code should be altered so that the ship travelling fastest in a collision gets the penalty. Does the way it works now mean that if you were in a smaller ship, and had been destroyed in the collision, you would have had to face an insurance re-buy AND been wanted for your own death?

...as the dock closed...

Sorry, saywhatnow?

I've never seen it do that. Are you playing the same game?

Edit: Ah, do you mean the numbered landing pad disappears? I was thinking you meant the actual letterbox itself closed.

To those folks saying 100 is too slow for docking: Try doing it with Flight Assist Off. ^_^ 100 is plenty fast enough.

I've noticed a lot that I'm often noted as Speeding while docking / launching from stations. Beyond the Speeding label, however, I'm not seeing any other deleterious effects on my standing. Most of the time, depending on mood I ignore the warnings, I have to admit.

I speed with impunity, trespassing means you've entered a station with no docking request, loitering for hanging around the wrong pad too long and will get fined for doing so.

Suggestions, practice docking faster, and make sure you request permission, or simply buy a docking computer module, and finally if speeding don't hit anything or let anything hit you...

Leaving the mail slot too slowly will trigger that warning too.

50-70 is slow enough for that to happen. I've had that more than once (usually when waiting for another ship to clear out), even before the game was released.

It's the only explanation i have for what the OP describes.

Since 100 m/s has been introduced, i've made sure to keep 90-100 when passing through the slot, and i've had no issues whatsoever.

If it's a bug, as the OP suspects, i would expect to have heard about it from others too.

A video would help to fully understand what's happening, coz i'm not really sure i do.

Hi Brujah Yes the numbered dock disappear and all hell let loose.

The dock number used to dissapear sometimes (well it used to often enough lol was a bug but who knows if its been totally quashed)

That said, docking warnings or loitering warnings are nothing to worry about, at 100 you have plenty of tme to clear the warning area without worry about it turning into a bounty...

I suspect there is other facets at play here, trying to dock at the wrong pad and not clearing the pad in the timeframe because you dd not notice the warning fast enough, tresspass warnings because you forgot to ask for docking permission (it happens to us all from time to time trust me!!! I know...), maybe you already were wanted in the system and were scanned during your docking entry and so had your docking revoked and the station fire on you... Are you hostile with the controlling faction of the station because yes that does matter a great deal too!!!

I am out in the black not near a station right now but I have never encountered these issues you describe turning into bounties either in the main game or in the beta tests... I will say that I tried docking at 100 many times in the beta and did get a 'warning' when taking too long to pass through the letterbox, but I cleared the letterbox every time well before the countdown timer on the warning expired...
