Spin-out in a fighter

I had a blast flying a fighter in vr until I clipped an enemy and my ship started spinning faster than a neutron star. It took me 1 minute of playing with thrusters to stop it. I managed to look down so that it wouldn't get me sick, but a part of me is still feeling a bit I'll just thinking about it.

I would class this as a bug.
So yeah... Do not clip anything when in a fighter.

Just reading this has turned my stomach.

I think I'll skip fighter practice for now.

If in VR and you clip a fighter into a spin, my advice is to:

  • put your head down so the scanner is at the top of your field of vision and look at the scanner not at your surroundings
  • then you'll see the scanner spinning rather than your surroundings which is far less nauseating
  • you can then ascertain what corrective input is required and start to slow your rate of spin
  • once your scanner is spinning at less than furious speeds you are safe to look back up through the canopy and use the residual energy to kickstart a manouvere to get back on to your initial target...

What about get into Camera mode?

The default camera mode the camera is locked to an external view.
It would be 10x worse.

Just focus on the cockpit or radar and you should be fine.
As for correcting the spin itself, the flight model isn't the most advanced so if you are spinning on one axis, just apply rotation to another one and you pull out in a few seconds.

Inow, if you are rolling wild, pitch, if you are pitching, roll, if you are spinning on yaw just roll or pitch.

Not a bug. Shove your controls into the opposite direction of the spin and boost out. Easy...I've been in lots of spins, never get disoriented and recovered each one. Focus on what the fighter is doing and not on what's happening outside of it.
