Split screen with the rift

Hi,

My trackIR broke today, got lucky and found someone selling a DK2. Everything woks great outside of ED, the built in 'Show Demo scene' is awesome

Unfortunately not so great with ED - Tracking does not seem to be enabled & the screen is split into two. Anybody know what the issue is? Btw, I can still make out the cockpit, the text etc is very clear.

Please help

Edit - not sure if this will help but the firmware is 2.12 and have Extend desktop to the HMD. Was under the impression the game would display in the rift and on my LCD.

have you put ED into oculus(headphone) mode?

Not stereo mode. There is separate one (actually two) for it

It seems like you did not changed the graphical settings.

There is hack to make game shows on primary monitor too, but it does not work for me (guess SLI issues, the game freezez/black screen on spinning ship) , read here -> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=43396&highlight=oculus+second+monitor

Nevermind I fixed it.... HOLY CRAP! this is insane, am just in my eagle but it's massive. Everything is full size! I can read the text fine and it's smooth. So glad my trackIR broke lol

Edit - I was a noob, didn't select oculus headphone mode.

Pleased you got it working mate. In Extended mode by default it only displays to your DK2 (there is a patch in the forums to change that). In Direct mode by default it displays to both the DK2 and your LCD but at the moment it's a bit broken (low fps).

It's nice to see a positive comment on the clarity of text. If you lean back as far as possible / F12 / then return to your original position it should be even better.

Also if you think the Eagle is massive - you are in for a treat with the Lakons (large haulers)

Most likely not an SLI issue - I use SLI and it works just fine, if that helps narrowimg the issue down.

Edit - I was a noob, didn't select oculus headphone mode.

Congrats - probably stating the obvious, but a lot of people seem to miss it - only use headphone mode if you actually use headphones - otherwise the game will rotate sound sources around your speakers, which kind of ruins the immersion.

Thanks for the tips guy's. This has changed everything for me, I could never go back to a normal monitor. Strange thing tho, when I bought it the guy let me try his using the roller coaster demo, that was blurry and txt was hard to read. Perhaps it's a config or GPU setting issue? I expected the worst, but mine looks nothing like his.

My rig isn't amazing but it's overclocked and handles elite well.

Core2Duo I52600K clocked at 5.1ghz
8 Gig ram
780TI

Am actually running everything maxed.

There are a few reasons why text could be blurry / out of focus:

IPD (inter pupillary distance).
The game (text fonts, sizes, colors all make a huge impact).
Video card
graphics settings

Our brains interpret certain fonts and colors better in a pixelated environment than others. This should hopefully change in the consumer release of the headset were the picture is much clearer.

If you think looking into the cockpit is cool, wait until you get into a "memorable" area. Day before yesterday I jumped into a binary system. When I exited FSD at the station, the station was to the left, the ringed planet was to the right, and the 2nd sun was sort-of in the middle and illuminated the side of the planet and the station. To be honest, words cannot express that "awe factor" of that moment. I had to put on the brakes and not dock and just sit there for a few minutes taking it in. Breath-taking.

Can't wait to visit some of those 'memorable' areas that I've seen over the past few months. Sorry to keep going on about it, mind is completely blown.. It's the scale the gets me, it's like actually being in a ship, I feel like a child again lol.

Spent the last hour just flying around those huge starports with the rings, had nirvana blasting away and my BK gamer vibrating from all the low frequency's, Pure immersion.

Anyone who says 'this game is boring' needs to try the rift. I could just purely fly around in my Eagle and be happy. If you haven't tried a BK gamer, it compliment's the rift perfectly.

Dude, just get a type6 already before the wipe. The other smaller ships are Ok, but the type 6 is pure wow because suddenly the cockpit is bigger than the room your earthly body is in.

I need an anaconda or a type9 but I think the CV1 might be out before I can afford one.

I can't wait to get one, am in a Cobra right now and that is pretty awesome Unfortunately I am not a teenager anymore (36) My family is back from holidays so it's back to real life, in fact I will miss the patch on thursday and the gamma release :/ My time in ED and the rift is limited for a while. Doubt I'll see a type 6 for a few months.

Edit - think it's just a rumor, but since the 3.9 patch is only a few day's I am hoping they will give us a cash injection before the Gamma wipe. That would give me a chance to try a bigger ship, I can only hope and dream

sorry just had to.

Just saw your post, that CPU was hand picked for it's overclocking ability, it's not a standard 2600K. Sure I could get another CPU, but some of those 2600K chips are known for being very good overclockers. 5.1ghz with no cooling, I could probably get it up to 5.5ghz, as far as performance, the rig is heavily optimized, have no issues with ED or any other flight sims at max settings.

The anaconda and type 9 are absolutely awesome in the rift. I highly recommend giving them a try if you can.
