Splurging on a Panther Clipper!

To celebrate my 76th orbit of Sol, I’ve decided to treat myself to a Panther Clipper Mk II Stellar. Completely frivolous purchase, I know. Much smarter to wait and buy with credits rather than arx, but then how many more orbits do I have left to worry about such things?

When I started playing back in 3303, there were constant forum references to the fabled Panther Clipper from the early days of Elite. Many were longing for its inclusion in todays Elite Dangerous. Now that it’s here, I’m pretty excited to get a hold of one.

The Stellar version’s Optional Internals and Utility Mounts are pretty close to what I would have selected with an in-game credit purchase. Core Internals will have to have some tweaks to lighten things up a bit. As a pure trader who doesn’t carry weapons, I only need a 6A power plant and 6D power distributor. Plus life support and sensors can be D rated. Weapons will be stored.

The paint job looks good and the ship kit is OK.

I’ll be heading off now to Pascal Orbital to pick it up. Then off to Farseer for a bit of engineering.

Wish me luck and fly safe!

Yeah, I'm thinking that with some engineering and tweaks to the Stellar, performance will be good yet the in-game credit-value of the ship will remain super-low, so that having the Panther Clipper transferred between even distant shipyards will cost almost nothing, having to rebuy it (when the auto-dock gets lethally confused) will cost almost nothing, etc. At least I think that's how it works.

(The normally-minor costs from a full-price ship as big and expensive as this one could otherwise start to bother me)

I know some people are planning to keep it stock, so they can transfer it to their location instantly (and for free) by selling any existing one then deploying one locally, but I think I prefer to have an engineered beast ...and I would lose the engineering if I sold it

Congrats on your orbits and on an epic birthday present!

If you buy the Stellar you will be stuck with those modules. Might want to consider the Standard and buy everything else separately for credits.

Thanks, I see it from 8 min onwards - not as daft as the CM5 but still not that impressed. Don't think it is worth the extra arxes though.
It's not. Get the Standard version. It's cheaper and you wont be stuck with useless modules.
And if you hurry, you can get a free PC paintjob and 2 point defenses if you join both active CG's
I killed 1 pirate and hauled 4 tons of gallium with my heavily cargo modified Python MKII.
They end today I think.

Good luck and fly safe Commander.

Anyone know the actual loadout of the Stellar PC2?

(Goggling didn't help.)
Ignore the engineering, also the size 2 CR should be the ADC and the ADC should be the SCA

Apart from the SCA which modules are useless?
Some are a bit OTT but useless?

Edited to add the bit I forgot.
The CGs finished some hours ago.

You said it yourself right here:
The ones you can't remove. AKA useless.

Strange the snippet of the post in that link isn’t from my post that the link leads to.

You can remove any of them, you just can’t do anything with them once removed. Which doesn’t make them useless in the Panther it just means they only have one use.

The modules in the Panther are all full size and where available A rated so will work fine some of them are in fact over the top but that isn’t the same as useless.

Yeah, somethings borked with that link. Anyways, maybe these modules will work for someone not interested in building ships, but that not be me. 🤓

If/when I want to do an extensive rebuild of a Panther I will buy one for credits or more unlikely get a standard EA one for Arx.
