spontaneous ship explosion- anyone else had this?

Having a bit of a grind session in Mr Type 6, I was lined up with the letterbox had clearance and was about 2km out and slightly above and left of target with 104 tons of Imperial Slaves (or maybe they were club 18-30 holidaymakers) when Boom!.

No shield activity (so not shot at nor collided with), only system authority vessels around and neither wanted or have any infraction at all. Simply one minute fine and the next minute watching an eject message and a loud boom followed by a brief view of my type 6 docking in instalments.

As I was playing in a private group I am certain there was no foul play of any sort.

I can only surmise that either something spawned where I was, or that in the words of motorhead, I was "killed by death".

I have ticketed this instance but was wondering if anyone else has had this gremlin rear its scaly head as well?

Third post today about this buddy. My and Vainaa had similar death and near-death experiences.

Sounds weird but I feel better about it now... At least if it is out there I don't have to worry about it being my fault. Question now must be.. how often can I expect this? Have had no drama up to 1.1.05.

Might be an issue with deploying landing gear too early as someone suggested in the thread I posted. At least once my Asp blew up immediately after I hit deploy landing gear (about 6k outside of coriolis port). So don'ät deploy until at the pad I guess.

Happened to me three times now within a week, two of which blew up and one I survived with 17% hull. Last time it happened was today. Fun times.

Well known bug, suffered it twice (Type-6 and Anaconda), although as dumb luck have it my Anaconda survives (which happens very rarely) and left with no shield and 83% hull. Ticketed both, got refunded both time.

Thanks for your input. The landing gear thing sounds interesting, I usually drop mine as I'm going through the letter box, especially if it is one of the close pads. Doesn't make any sense in a shielded vehicle and especially as it is the first time in a gazillion landings it had happened. So IM guessing bug is the problem not design.

What?? All I got was the old "Are you still having this issue? If you don't reply this ticket will remain closed". WTH

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=111432 is a link to a similar thread on this issue, there is now a Dev presence there asking for ticket numbers so they can check net logs for a possible cause, if you have ticketed your issue then I would suggest you add your ticket number to that thread as more info will help

I put a lot of details, CMDR name, exact time and date (in GMT), circumstances, location, my pip setting, bay I am heading for, what I am doing, screenshot right before or/and after, cargo & value, insurance rebuy cost (with screenshots), NPC sighting.

basically I make it as easy as possible for them to check my logs and what my losses are so they can get past my ticket as fast as possible.

I didn't experience any of those blow ups, but I am dropping landing gear earliest when post the letterbox.
Nevertheloess I've heard about this type of incidents. I think there will be some refund once its clear what happened.

Ahh, that explains it. Fix the easy ones and close the ones that require some work :D I would have thought mine would have been easy to fix. It wasn't complicated or a "trick" for free credits. Flying by myself all alone, ship goes boom, refund credits. easy peasy and it wasn't particularly a lot of credits (around 200,000). Ticket was submitted in an attempt to help FD gauge the issue. As it turns out, it was submitted as a gauge, for me, of FD's support or lack thereof in this case.
