spoof a name is it still possible.

during the testing of Elite Dangerous it was possible to change the game files to spoof a name, many players done this to pretend to be david braben and other off the cuff names.
was this ever fixed or is it still possible to spoof a commander name so that other players see you as someone that you are not?
I ask this as I have many players reporting to me that they have been destroyed by a player, when checking to see if the name appears in the search function the name does not appear in the player data base.

don't take this as a bump post but it defiantly appears that the name hack is still available, this means that a player can be destroyed by someone using a spoof name.
FD have admitted in the past that such hack will take a back seat until the rest of the game is sorted, until FD have stated that such hacks have been eliminated it would appear that's it remains an issue.

I think it is still possible, very much so in fact, and that FD have bigger fish to fry in the hacking exploits in-game at the moment.

Youc an meet players so rarely that this is barely an issue right now. An explorer won't have an issue being impersonated. An outer system(relative to players) trader/BH /pirate won't care much either. Anyone in regular contact with players will be able to clear this up pretty quickly too.

I think the real issue would be a pilot that is exploiting the game or hacking, changing their name to either avoid detection or incriminate another player.
