Spooky Meeting out in the Black

Good Day Cmdrs,

Just want to tell you all what happened to me a couple of days ago - as usual I was out in the Black (underneath Colonia @ 300LYs), just wandering around looking for stuff and not looking for stuff - bouncing from Nuetron Star to Dawrfs etc, minding me own business, when I thought - what haven't I seen ingame yet - I know - I have never managed to find any surface interests (Guysers, trees etc).
No - problem - lets start looking a bit harder than normal - jumped into a system - found a planet that had volcanic action with molten guysers.

Landed - took off in my trusty SRV - looking for the surface interests.
First point that is making wonder if I am doing it right - was, after reading the forum and noticing that Cmdrs skim a planet at @ 25KM looking for POI on their scanners, then fly down to them, hey presto. Well, no matter how hard I tried I could not keep my T6 in Cruise at 25KM off the planet - it kept dropping out of cruise and gliding in - thus leaving my onboard ship scanner not showing anything - any suggestion or comments woud be gratefully recieved

Anyway - I digress - there i was scooting abouot on the planet surface when I notice "You have been Scanned" pop up - , I am inthe middle of bloody nowhere, playing not in Open but in a meeting session (only like minded - non PVP people). I quickly look at whats in range on my left panel and to may surprize I see another Human Ship and here is the Spooky part - in real life my name is Andy Bolton better know by virtually everyuone that knows me as Andy B. The Cmdr that scanned me was no other than Cmdr Andy_B.

SO after claming down and trying to rasie the commander in Local ( I use a HTC Vive, so it took time for me to get it off and be in a position to type in local) it became obvious that I had either
1: Just seen my Real Life Self inGame (highly unprobable but who knows)
2: He had left local and I missed my chance to chat to myself (more than I normally do :) )

So - Cmdr Andy_B - hit me up in game Sir - would be a pleasure to have a chat and sorry it took so long to get my wits about me and shout in local

Fly Safe Cmdrs

P.S I still haven't found any surface interests but I will continue until I do or Die

Not seen this method used by anyone in the geyser and fumarole thread, probably because it doesn't work! You can't see POI's in SC, however you can in glide, and you can stay in glide for a good long while but I have never seen a small POI in glide, only large ones, you would be very lucky to see a small one. The best technique is to identify a likely location, a nice long deep canyon for instance, and cruise along between 2.5km and 4km above the surface. Also set your radar to linear and max range, and off you go. Running around in an SRV is pointless until you actually find something. Good luck with the hunting.

As for the spooky bit, good luck with that, I rarely see real life pilots out that far so it was a real......spooky encounter I guess!

Thanks for the information - just one question - how do I set my Radar to Linear ?

Thanks in advance
