We need settlements that can be decorated for squadrons. This goes for spacestations also. They should have up keep missions that can be accepted there. If the enough mission are not done something goes wrong with the settlement or faction. If they never get done the settlement goes away or gets attack and goes away. Squads should be able to take other squads settlements (if out of the bubble/war) off line and maybe destory them. The settlements should have ranks. These ranks should give more defense (guards, guns) and access to different things in or out side the bubble. Having a high ranked settlement in the area should give a boost to whatever power they chose. Ie if a settlement goes rouge they could choose to support and minor faction in the area and start a rebellion. Ie turn the system to pirate or something. The Major faction should go to war with the squadron as a whole. They shouldn't be too burdensome to keep up but harder outside the bubble. If in the bubble you can tie these to power play as a minor faction. They could be given missions also by the faction with rewards. Ie cools stuff to make your settlement/station better. When factions go to war the squadron/settlment/station can go to war also. If a squadron builds a settlment out of the bubble they should be able to band 10 or more squadrons together and make a player faction. This faction could go to war with other factions then and change the map. Maybe the player faction could make a run for sol.
Since you already have carries this seems like a posiblity. If you only had a ship you could still dock and get missions at the squadron settlement. This would add a huge new loop to the game. It would bring back old players. It would add a reason for pvp. Players would feel like they own something besides a cockpit. Some of the tech is already there with the missions we have.
