Welcome to part 2 of these series of Wall of Texts about my ideas for improving Squadrons to a Degree, that they actually provide proper reasons to use them aside from the potential Fleet Carriers. Here is part 1: Treasuries.
So the Squadron Leaderboards. We are close to the end of season 1/start of season 2. And while I can understand the competitive nature, that it provides to the large groups, I am sitting here in my tiny squadron representing a small random fan community with no chance of ever coming close to grab a medal. And let the big groups have their medals, I am fine with that. Instead I want to talk about the natural expansion on the Squadron Leader boards:
Internals Squadron Leader-boards
The Idea is simple, just add another view for every officially ranked activity, that shows for every activity the contributions of every member(Political is properly not fitting that bill). Do this view for all time and either the current season or one month. I would go for the latter. Now people can compare themselves to their friends or their respective community, watch their grow and fall as Bounty Hunters or Bug Squasher without having to rely on 3rd Party Tools, which would heavily improve Console Experience(although they seem to get their Journals finally being accessible for 3rd party sides). Those Internal Leaderboards don't even need an extra reward(although one could be added in form of a prize pool, see Squadron Treasury) and just be for fun. With that being said why stop at tallying current stuff:
Custom Leaderboards
There are a lot of activities, that would not be covered. One of my Squadrons Allies had a contest over having the largest Bounty during a Trade CG. Then there is mining, piracy, Influence gained, Powerplay, just to name a few. You could even go so far and include every stat from the Commanders Page in the Codex as a valid data-point for Leaderboards. And if it is to much of an hassle to keep track of all these values, give Squadrons the ability to select a number(5 seems okay) of this things and only track them, resetting every time something is switched.
Now every squadron can custom tailor internal leaderboards to their needs and activities. You are a bunch of pirates wanting to measure how has the biggest booty, there you go. Wanna run an internal CG-like event to improve your BGS, be my guest. But wait there is even more stuff in the game, that is not tracked by it:
Manual Leaderboards
Stuff like Fuel Ratting, SRV Racing and so forth is not really something supported in terms of keeping track of them ingame. Nonetheless people should be able to curate Leaderboards for such Activities. You do a racing event? Now you can put up your victories until they are replaced with the next leaderboard(As I suggest only having 1 manual leaderboad) And while we are talking about nonoffical activities, why not finishing this all up with a tie in with my previous suggestions on Treasuries:
Treasury Tie In
If you read my stuff on Treasury it would be only naturally to include Internal Optional Leaderboards for stuff like number of buffed Vouchers. So if you run an Escort Service, the number of buffed Trade Voucher would be an good indicator for Contracts completed.
Part 3 is here.
