Squadron naming.

Received an email today regarding reserving your squadron name. ...Just wondering, is the general consensus to name these squadrons the same as ones player group? Or something else entirely?

Kindly received an email from Will F clarifying a question from a couple of Cmdr’s...

The term ‘Squadron’ will be used in context where Squadrons are concerned so adding ‘Squadron’ at the end of your Squadron name seems redundant.

Not sure yet if ones chosen squadron name will be permanently embedded on the Carrier ship. Yet? But Will F did mention that squadron features are not able to be revealed at the moment.
So I’m thinking that this one may well be in discussion currently ?

Is squadron naming no different than commander naming? Subject to abuse, moderation and infraction?

Have you registered your group/is your group registered with FD? Based on my reading of the email, only group leaders would have got it.

@OP, Personally, I went with a different name entirely. Well, not entirely, theme is still the same, but the name is distinct, as
- Our MF = Faction which anyone can support
- Squadron = The entity people can join in-game if they want to "fly the flag"
- Group = The "core" group of players supporting the MF and squadron.

They're three separate constructs, in my group's opinion.

This is my thinking also, since my player group name is different (but related) to the main faction name.
On the other hand I suspect that some squadrons will be named identically to the player groups as well as faction names.

Oh yes. If you look at the lists of new PMFs in the game, you'll find for the most part, that Group Name == PMF Name, so it's a bit of a no-brainer that if those groups form squadrons, it'll probably be the same. But yeah, they're all quite different things for us :)

It’s a shame we have an “only one group” policy.
Plus being a vet in the AEDC takes the whole of my game time.
Otherwise I would split off and start a new group:
Alliance Research and Space Exploration

I’m sure lots of other folks would come along for the ride.
We might have to shorten the name somewhat, probably the acronym.

Registered my PG a couple of months ago and didn't get one. Hoping that they're doing them in batches or something.
