Squadrons can purchase their own fleet carriers!

From the Expo ...

"Squadrons can purchase their own fleet carriers! Large, mobile, dockable ships. Squadron members can refuel, rearm etc."

Frontier likes my ideas

Since Frontier likes my ideas, WHEN are you going to implement, my latest brilliant logical truly inspirational game-play improvement !
....................................ON Ship Storage & OFF Ship Storage......................................
allowing players to move from their current ship to another ship and not have Cargo follow.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/369641-Off-Ship-Storage-2-4-if-not-when

Let the space man fly !!

Anyone thought about the actual "squadron" gameplay, ?.

Example;
You have a mining vessel, you're under attack, so race back and dock at the Carrier, to swap to your beast of a fighter craft ! ....AND can't

"this is your Carrier ship's voice speaking, sorry you cant SWAP, as you have Cargo on board and it KEEPS following you"

Fleet Carriers from a solo player's perspective

Fleet carriers... As in very very very (very) large (non flyable) ships you can own, just so you can tell everyone you own one and store a fleet inside, that could theoretically jump around with you?

I wonder if a single CMDR will be able to buy/build one of these... If not, how many second accounts would I would a theoretical person, that wants to purchase one, need to form a squadron? :D
How much would it cost 10 billion, 100 billion, more? Would you need all materials to build it?

Until now I could never have imagined trading in a shieldless Cutter without docking computer, but now it seems very reasonable... to have two four accounts doing just that at the same time. Or... I could join a player gr... 4 shieldless Cutters it is. [Disappears to purchase more copies of the game.]

Now this is going to be VERY interesting to have!

Now all we have to do is to wait and see what FD do ...

Fly safe and board the hype train!

Its a brilliant idea with the carriers. It can be a huge credit sink and also let players team up for real in groups/clans/squadrons and sink the teeth into each other. If the carriers are movable and can be destroyed it would be the icing on the cake. That alone would create a lot of different strategies and game play. Hide the carrier in an asteroid field? Near a planet? Around a base? Around a moon? Sounds like Star Wars :)

My concern with this is that it makes the crime and punishment system obsolete. It doesn't matter if you're banned from docking anywhere in the galaxy if you have your own megaship.

I doubt the carriers would be destroyable, the levels of salt when someone's trillion credit investment got wiped out would be off the scale.

I like the carrier idea but I like more the idea (mine, probably others as well) of having instant ship transfer (maybe you purchase so many transfers via real $$). This way if there's a CG, you can take your highest jump range ship, get to the station and transfer your deliverer of death or cargo ship without needing to wait a day to get it. Some people work for a living.

It’s only going to be awesome if one squadron can blow up someone else’s.
Don't get your hopes too high. I expect this will be very similar to how the Gnosis megaship works for Canonn right now, except with an in-game UI interface to tell it where to go instead of them having to submit a request to FDEV asking for it to be moved.

It won't be directly player-controlled. It also probably be immune to damage - just like how the stations and megaships are right now. Too much griefing potential to do it any other way.

Seems like a great way to scratch that perennial player-owned bases itch along with the guild itch with the same scratchything -- AND tie it in with wing missions. Nice. Sounds like a sensible structure to build upon and make things easier for the social butterflies and serial psychopaths, the latter who will hopefully be sporadically smacked with the upcoming C&P updates.

I was one of the guys dismissing bases and guilds, but I have to admit -- the idea is winning me over because everything slots together nicely. As long as they aren't gigantic EVE style corps, is there going to be a hard limit on the number?

Regardless, it's a fine setup that's going to lead to some hilarious anecdotes and emergent epics of spacey drama.
