Newcomer / Intro SRV - allocation of pips, and other matters

Just an observation about allocating pips in the SRV

When flying your chosen ship it is vital to become acquainted with allocating pips to SYS, ENG or WEP

However, on the SRV the allocation of pips doesn't seem to make much difference at all... is this correct, or am I missing something..?


Also, is it just me or does todays SRV seem to take a lot more damage that it used to...?
(not a great problem I guess, since it repairs itself every time you redock with the ship)

Finally, I know the 'fuel guage' is on display in the bottom right corner, but....
... wouldn't it be great (more realistic at least!) if a red 'low fuel' light started flashing when the fuel level hits critical..... :)
 
Hehe, thirsty light is a nice idea. Though I personally like the huge letters FUEL LOW flashing in front of your eyes, too. :)

PIPs: You need 4 pips in ENG when you want to boost/jump a lot, need to jump over something big or somewhere high. PIPs in ENG don't influence the max speed but they do influence the acceleration (At least with FA Off), so it's advisable to use fewer on ice and low gravity planets to prevent spinning, especially if you have "heavy foot on gas pedal"
WEP and SYS (shields) work the same as in ships, though as SRV shields don't protect you from impact damage, you only really need SYS power if you're fighting.
