SRV and Cannisters

I haven't done much planetary exploring, so please excuse this dumb question.

In my SRV on a planet, I discovered this big cache of cannisters with Paladiam and other assorted stuff.

I opened my cargo hatch and tried to pick them up, but they seem too large.

Is there a way to get them into my SRV? If not, how do I get them?

Do I call the ship back and then somehow pick them up with the ship? What is the process for that?

Any help appreciated.

Target the canister, open your cargo hatch, bump into the canister, boom it's in your SRV's hold. You can only carry 2 tons, so recall your ship and go park under the hatch. There is a "transfer cargo" option in the crotch menu to let you funnel cargo up to your ship without having to board and launch again. Although you might want to board the first time just to take off and land your ship a bit closer to the goods you want to pick up. Saves having to drive back and forth, because the ship recall always leaves it miles away.

Yeah, the canisters are made of handwavium so they appear too big but you just have to drive over them or into them with the cargo scoop open, and you will collect them. You can only carry 2 canisters thoguh, so you would probably have to recall your ship, pick up 2 canisters and transfer them to your ship, going back for others

You can pick up cargo cannisters in your SRV, just target them open your hatch and drive over them.

However, you can only carry 2, so you might have to recall your ship and ferry them over.

But the key is to make sure the canister is targeted before you drive over it with your scoop open.
