SRV Beacons

A beacon deployable from the SRV which tells your ship exactly where its going to land.

Subject to all the rules for deciding a landing spot. If valid you stop, deploy and get out of the way after which you can recall your ship.

The reason for this is I landed in a large canyon/bowl. There were a number of valid landing points so to get a rare resource node I needed to dismiss my ship as too close. All done and I recall my ship.

Except.....

It refused to land in the bowl and always landed outside. There was enough gravity and the cliff walls steep enough that I couldn't escape the trap though I spent a good few hours trying. Net result was one self-destruct SRV and a looong trip back to the bubble. Incredibly frustrating as it should have been completely avoidable.

Log in to non-horizons version, appear in orbit in ship.

How about adding a weapon that allows the ship to flatten the terrain (a little carpet bombing or such).
While I never got stuck I noticed that the autopilot is not as capable in finding landing spots.

PS4 version so to my knowledge not possible.

If it were possible then would I have to worry about data concerns, losing horizons specific data?

You lose no data doing it.

But PS4 yes that could be a problem, I don't think there's an option to log into non-horizons. You couldn't manage to fly out, you can do some amazing stuff with the SRV thrusters. What sort of rare resource node? As far as I am aware there aren't any rare ones on the ground.

geological site, I landed between two lots of needle clusters and the ship zone covered both.

Believe me, I tried really hard to get the SRV out of there but it was IIRC about .6G and the terrain at the bowls edge was thin, steep and sharp rock slices. I got stuck so many times it wasn't funny and in the end had to give up. It never occurred to me I wouldn't get be able to get out until faced with the fact of it.

You can jump remarkably high when boosted from a volcanic vent, .6G may make it a little difficult I guess but I've always managed to get out of scrapes myself, and with the number of volcanic and bio sites you can find on planets and moons these days bothering with the difficult ones simple isn't worth it.
