Horizons SRV damage: Hit a big rock going fast, you're fine. Tiny rock going slow, you're dead.

So i'm out here in MAIA, driving around my SRV on a planet with 2x gravity. I spotted a crater and decided to park on the edge and drive down. 4 hours later, I'm still driving down the edge of the massive crater. I'm comfortable enough driving max speed downhill no problem over rocks, hit a few huge boulders. No problem, shake it off with less than -2% dmg. Mind you I'm flying over hills occasionally landing on my front without much issue. I decided to park on the top of a bump, maybe 10m high to look around. Next, I decide to continue on. just as I start to roll down the hill, my bumper touches a rock and I explode.

I was going less than 5. My hull was at 85%, shields full, and hull was also +100 strength.

This doesn't happen often, but it's incredibly frustrating to give up 4 hours of exploration like this, over a rock I could hold in my hand. A bicycle could go over this fine.

I know, I destroyed one my SRV's 5K lyr away thanks to one of those little rocks.
Good think I took two with me, but still, it was really irritating to die after a fall that
was 5x smaller than some other I made before with no big trouble.

Hit one of these with the SRV hitbox at 40 m/s, bang => u dead.

Needless to say, I move very carefully now Nearest station is 20Klyr away.

Just to clarify, none of the rocks would fit in your hand, a single person would struggle to pick up the smallest of rocks with both hands. Again it's a side effect of viewing on your monitors. I'm sat here in my SRV looking at these rocks in Virtual reality.

A bike and it's rider would get wrecked if they collided with one of those, to give you more perspective - one wheel on the SRV is closer to the tire on an Airliner, much bigger than standard off road vehicle tyres (I do a huge amount of desert offroading in Oman)

Haven't noticed the damage issue you mention, have only got 830km on the clock. I'll try some crazy driving..

It's all relative. On a super low g world, I could lift the srv.

I'd be if I was 20k and ran out of srvs. These need to be craft able via deep space mining

Anything to do with the shape of them? I.e. the tyres hit the larger rock so you drive over it but the smaller one goes underneath and rips the bottom of the SRV out?
