Horizons SRV Driving

I have an X52 Pro and trying to drive the SRV is extremely frustrating. I feel like i have to be doing something wrong. They really didn't just make this thing so hard to control on purpose did they?

My main issue is that when steering (twist), there does not seem to be any "light" steer. I twist the stick more and more and nothing (trying to do a light turn) then all the sudden it does a full (hard) steer. What am i doing wrong?

I don't use twist for the driving. Not enough sensitivity. I use "roll" (stick left/right) for that. I use twist for turret left/right, its ok for that.

Also, make sure you are driving with drive assist OFF! Drive assist on is a pain to control and i only use it for some very specific situations.

If it's within reach try this...
I have X52 stick and throttle with rudder pedals for ship. But also have thrustmaster steering wheel and accelerator/brake for srv.
Throttle and stick fitted to custom table far enough apart to fit wheel in the middle. Rudder and accelerator/brake fitted to sliding mechanism on floor, takes 5 seconds to flip from one to thre other. Whole thing works great. Plus I get all the extra hats, buttons and levers on the wheel for more controls.
BTW love this game.

You have likely setup the binding with a deadzone and "all-or-nothing" input. Try axis input or analogue or whatever it is called in the settings. You want gradually increasing increments of input.

You sir are a genius. I have the X55 Rhino for E: D but I also have a T300RS sat right in front of me which I didn't even consider trying to use for the SRV.....

Guess what I will be trying out this evening!

Edit: Tried this tonight and I now Fly with Rhino and Drive with T300RS!! (Thanks for the idea!)

A longer axis helps... I use my thrustmaster pedals for this and it really does make a difference over the shorter axis. But on an icy body they only way you can control it is by driving slower. Which is a pain in itself. I really wish they would tone done the slipping and sliding. Either that or make it so we can use our fighter or ships to more easily locate on the surface of the planet so we didn't have to drive very long distances if we didn't want too.

LOL. Thanks for tips. I had the "Steer Left Button" and Steer Right Button" set to left and right stick movements instead on selecting the axis above those two options instead.
